How many forms of Infiltrate are there.

How many forms of Infiltrate are there, that are not listed in the main rule book. That is besides Deep Striking. I am a SoB player. I played 3 games at a turnament. Game 1 Ork Hord. A mass of Orks came in the game on my flank(with the special infiltrating ork character) In a Spearhead set up IT HURT. Game 2 Tyranids. 3 Lictors were deployed in contact/behind with 2 of my Battle squads.
I want to know What I am up aginst. How to defend aginst them. All I know is The rules pg 75 of the rulebook.
Would a few VSS with Auspex wargear be able to detect and shoot( just preventing Infiltrators is good)
{I am new so, Please don't post nasty notes for posting a stupid question.} Thanks

Well theres only one type of infiltrating, and auspexes do work against only this one (but so badly that its not worth bothering...).

Also units that have infiltrate can choose not to use it and instead use 'outflank' which is written on page 94. Thats how units can come onto the table from the sides.

With the ork unit, it was using a special ablity that lets it come on by your own table edge instead of the sides.

Deep striking isn't infiltrate either, its deep striking. But you already know about that.

3 Lictors were deployed in contact/behind with 2 of my Battle squads.

I presume you mean arriving by deep strike for this?

General advice, since your opponent has to declare which units are going to use which method of entering the table you can plan around that. If the ork special character is going to turn up on your own table edge you move away from it. Same thing if there are units using outflank to arrive from the sides.

Snikkrott - the ork character - doesn't infiltrate. He's got another special rule that he conveys to his unit that allows them to come in from reserve from any table edge.

Lictors don't infiltrate either. They deep strike into area terrain, and can assault on the turn they arrive.

Auspexes are pretty useless.

When snikkrot's around - stay away from board edges.

When lictors are around - stay away from area terrain or fill up the area terrain with your own models so that the lictor can't be placed.

resinmann wrote:"Jack: right next to your setup quarter." Come on the board behind me?

Pardon my fast MS paint image (see bottom of my post), but I was clearly communicating via text poorly.

If you had setup in the upper left red area and the wheeled to face the enemy longwise, their normal reserves (no special rules required) can enter anywhere along their long edge and if you've advanced they can act rather like outflankers.

resinmann wrote:"They deep strike into area terrain, and can assault on the turn they arrive. " I did have my battle squads in ruin buildings. That is how the lictors got there. Thank you guys very much. You have been very helpful.

The only way to be safe from a lictor appearing in terrain occupied by your models is not to leave enough space for him to legaly place the model (ie he needs to place it not within 1 inch of your models) so you can fort up against lictors by filling a peice of terrain to a large enough degree they cannot appear in it...tanks can help

Jack
