Some spray primer+Ork painting questions

Simple stuff.

1. Should I put the minis on a sheet of cardboard when I prime them?
2. Will those flimsy rubber gloves that hospitals use suffice as protection for my hands?
3. How should I protect my face?
4. Would Knarloc green+Badab Black be an effective but simple skin colour for my Orks?
5. What shade of blue is appropriate for Deathskullz?

1. I would'nt use standard cardboard,as your models may stick to this, however,I use the GW boxes (landraider etc) to prime on and that works just fine.
2. they should so long as you don't have any prolonged contact with any paint.
3.you can buy a filter mask/dust mask at any wal-mart,that and some safty glasses and your good to go.
4. ehhh, I would use orkhide shade with a drybrush of knarloc green followed by a wash of thrakka green then a light highlight of goblin green.
5.well I'm not sure on this one but to me enchanted blue looks about right.

Some spray primer+Ork painting questions

1. You should definately put the minis on something, unless you want to paint your table. Also make sure it's enclosed around 3 sides too - you'd be surprised how far primer can travel.

2. Unless you're hold the mini with your hands, you don't need hand protection. The primer might also melt some types of latex...

3. A simple nurse's mask from a drug store should be fine, unless you have a pre-existing condition.

4. Probably, but it might be a little dark.

5. Depends how much you want to focus on the blue. Anything between Ultramarines Blue and Enchanted Blue should look OK. The brighter the blue, the more it'll stand out.

Some spray primer+Ork painting questions

I have an old drawer with the face removed that I use as my spray box. Line it with some newspaper put my figures inside and all is good.

I basecoated my orks in Orkhide Shade and then Gnarloc Green before washing them with Paynes Grey. This was followed up with a light top coat of Camo Green

http://www.kan.org/michael/mkp/ork_boyz.php

I used Ultramarine Blue for the tattoos

Payne's Grey is a godsend! It works a lot better than the GW inks, but it takes more preparation to use. There's an article on here somewhere that explains how to use it properly (I think the article is in a sticky at the beginning of this forum), but one wash with it and you're golden.

Try Devlan Mud wash over your ork flesh instead of straight badab black. Better yet, pick a test model and do different body parts with different methods, find the look you like best.

(I third praise for Payne's grey, it's amazing. Check Ifurita's articles and blog for more info there)
