Is the Emperor a God? Could he have "daemons"?

Summed up in the thread title. I was thinking about making an army of sisters of battle, ecchlisiarchy (sp?), holy warriors, etc for a "counts as" chaos army. They would use warp manifestations of the Emperor instead of daemons of chaos. I had this idea when I thought back to long ago, I believe it was Mauleed that thought up the idea of a daemon army using angels instead of daemons. Would it be believable in the 40k background to have a force of Emperor-worshiping warriors that could summon "angels" of the Emperor?
And just for kicks, is the Emperor as much as god as the chaos gods, Gork n Mork, etc?

In the fluff, no no. But for a luagh a angelic style deamons army would be sweet.

To answer your questions, the emprorer isn't a god, the belief that he is started as a misguided cult. The primarchs are in effect, his angels. As they were created by abusing warp power, which in turn is what pissed off the chaos gods.

Is the Emperor a God? Could he have "daemons"?

I just figure that since the Emperor can make living saints (daemon princes) give the sisters of battle miraculous powers on the battlefiend (gifts of chaos), answer prayers, cure people, etc from across the galaxy (general chaos mucking about), creating warp storms (storm of the Emperor's wrath) makes the Emperor seem pretty god-y. I mean if it looks like a god, smells like a god, acts like a god, has the same powers as a god, it's probably a god.

in the book eye of terror on the last page it goes on about some greater deamon of tzeentch thinking about how the Emperor is actually a god and the mortals (humans of the imperium) will untimantly fail in keeping him alive in the goldern throne and when that happens there would be a war between the emperor and the chaos gods which the Emperor will win. well thats what i think, it was a while ago when i last read it and cant think the book BUT the Emperor is definatly a god!!

sorry about the spelling FOR THE EMPEROR!!!!!!!!

Is the Emperor a God? Could he have "daemons"?

My thoughts:

Is the Emporer a god? It's possible. Fluff tells us that the creation of gods depends on the number of worshipers (in the case of Gork and Mork) or powerful collective emotions (the Chaos Gods).
Every human in the Imperium worships the Emperor, so it seems safe to say that he could become a god if he were to finaly die. But until then, we will simply have to wait and see.

According to Lexicanum, Daemons are litteraly a tiny part of a Chaos God's essence split off from the whole and given sentience. It seems likely the Emperor would be able to create his own daemons, but it doesn't seem to fit his personlity. During the Great Crusade, the Emperor was all about killing daemons, that might not change after 10K years of unconscienceness.

Fluff aside, an 'Angelic Daemons' army sounds awesome and I say go ahead.

Well I'll say what I said before, the Doom Legion is supposed to be either the spirits of a chapter lost to the warp, or a manifestation of the emperor's will and instead of having a 3+ armor save, they have a 3+ invulnerable save. This sounds pretty daemony to me.

But I've heard that when the emperor gets released or dies, his spirit is supposed to combine with the chaos gods to make a perfect god.
The chaos gods represent different parts of humanity(change, indulgence, decay, and violence) and the emperor is supposed to merge with them to form different god.

It was the reason Lorgar betrayed him. But he hated Chaos above all else.
Is the Emperor a God? Could he have "daemons"?

Some people say that the Emperor is the God of Order, countering the Chaos Gods, the Gods of Disorder. Doesn't make sense, though, because a lot of the powers attributed to the Emperor are warp-like (see psykers). "Magic" powers are counter to the idea of Order, since they involve bending or breaking the rules of reality; so anything considered Godlike in the Materium must be Chaotic in nature.

So here's the idea, some people have already suggested it; the Emperor, and all psykers, are actually veins of Chaos that have blossomed in the material realm, sort of like daemons, but more concrete and better rooted. In that sense, the Emperor is a Chaos "God" who happens to be rooting for the forces of Order. His psyker abilities have since been misinterpreted, hence the Imperial Cult.

So... uh. Yeah. I guess he is a God, or at least as much a God as there exists in 40k. He should be able to manifest daem-- I mean, Angels. At least according to my logic.

This gives the impression that yes, he is conscious. In fact your quote does not give me the impression that the emperor is brain dead and doesn't do anything, it gives me the impression that 40k is very grimdark and that the emperor is fed souls to stay alive. Very basic things in 40k. How does this = the emperor is dead, the high lords control his power, etc etc conspiracy theory. I just don't see any connection at all.
Of course it doesn't give the impression that the emperor is living, or full of hope, or watching over everyone. 40k is obviously not like that. But just because 40k isn't all happy and hopeful doesn't mean that the emperor is brain-dead or merely a funnel for psychic energy. He still has sentience, as I showed by the stuff he does, but there's no way that he is just manipulated by the high lords. If the mechanicus, who know the most about technology, don't even understand how to make sure the throne keeps functioning as it has been, then how are the high lords, who know less about technology, supposed to maintain a device to manipulate psychic energy on that scale and precision (something that has never been suggested in 40k) let alone build it when the emperor, the most brilliant mind pretty much ever, just build the throne.

Is the Emperor a God? Could he have "daemons"?

Ooh, this has strayed into a very interesting fine point of Ork theology. Ork technology only operates because of a direct manifestation of their faith in Gork (or possibly Mork). In that light, the height of Ork engineering is a very real manifestation of the power of their gods to physically impact the universe. Indeed, each and every slugga is an affirmation of Mork's (or possibly Gork's) mighty power. With how numerous Orks are, I think that Gork and Mork are the most physically manifested of any of the gods. Made by Orks, but constantly powered by their cunningly crutal and brutally cunning gods.
