But seeing as I have 6 of them, I use the whippy sticks to remove models that are too far across the table for me to remove.

40K I use a tape measure. the assult range is pretty much a given when you play with more then 20 or 30 guys with the tape measure.

The red sticks are not exact sized to the inch, so anything else for them is useless.

A: using them as sword (which I believe GW intended... why else would they give two people about to go to war over the rules a small sword like object that isnt going to do any irreversible damage unless the pointed end involves an eyeball...)

B: for dramatic effect when pleading my side of a dispute, giving retaliating comebacks, or restoring the morale of my allies with a dramatic old fashioned general's horse whippy thingy just like that scene in patton...

I play Sisters and so I normally don't need any distances measured over 12" anyway.

I do have a 6" length of balsa I use for movement and charge in 40k.
