Restrict the actual white spot to a much smaller area. Perhaps paint the head of the hammer in the hot metal style, starting with black/red at the rear (wings) and blending through the warmer shades leading to the face. The white could be used sparingly on the face, and perhaps a slight amount on the sides (at the front tips of the skull). Pulling the color effect through the hammer, and sparing use of white will help break the look that your termis are using Ivory Thunder Hammers.
