1850 daemons list

Messing around with Daemons for fun. I have some really nice models for the list. Wanted to know what you guys thought

HQ	Fate weaver
HQ	Blood Thirster, unholy strength and blessing
Elite	8 Blood crushers, icon, music, fury
Troops	7 Horrors with bolt and changling
Troops	7 nurgle troops with icon
Troops	7 nurgle troops with icon
Heavy	Soul Grinder phlegm
Heavy	Soul Grinder phlegm
Heavy	Soul Grinder phlegm

1847pts

Fateweaver is a big part of this list. The ability to reroll all saves is awesome. It adds a lot of durability to a list that already has a good amount to begin with. Tag teaming him with a blood thirster is a lot of fun and very effective. It allows my crushers to move up unhindered to smack things down. The Grinders provide supportting fire and the nurgle and horrors hold objectives.

I could easily take more Horrors by dropping an icon off of one of the nurgle units... think this is worth it?
Or
Should I drop the horrors all together for more nurgle?

Not sure how much you like the Plaguebearers (I'm assuming you've used them before) Granted, they can take a decent shot from norm figs, high strength and power weapons just blow them apart regardless. Armies like Tau just stand back and laugh... Maybe its just me and my love of the Bloodletters, but when I think of DoC troops, I only think of them.

On the Bloodthirster, Blessing is nice, but I always lean towards Death Strike.
It will provide you with a 12" ranged assault attack with good strength (7) and good AP (2). Granted, it is a little pricey when compared to Bolt, it at least gives your Herald one additional attack, which has made a big difference for me when assaulting with his ho-hum 5 init (especially when assaulting into cover). One less pistol or PW to deal with is worth its weight in pewter.

I guess my only main question would be your ability to deal with vehicle heavy armies. At a local tournament, a CM player ran 7 x Land Raiders. With no 'Tongue' attacks from your Soul Grinders, poor strength pretty much all around, and little to no high strength spells, the tanks would track all over you. You'll need something with a strength 9+ weapon in order to destroy any big tanks (glancing blows are pretty much shrugged off most the time), and even opposing Soul Grinders could give you fits if they equip 'Tongue' on one or two models. And glancing blows against a Soul Grinder have little chance to even affect him (immune to shaken and stunned dmg results).

I'll test it out, but it may not be worth it.

I really like the plagubearers... if you find you are losing them to tau... you should put them in cover and go to ground. The tau will have just as hard of a time at killing them.

tzeentchling wrote:Hmm. I'd drop the Horrors and the icons. How would you send it in?

depends on the opponent. A generic drop would be:
turn 1: fateweaver, thirster, 2 Grinders, crushers leaving a grinder, 2 nurgle units, and a horror unit in reserve.

This way if I don't get the wave I want, I have 2 Icons on the table I can use to bring in the rest of my army.

A lot of people say the 8 man unit is too big and will be lost to DSing... but I haven't found this yet.

1850 daemons list

It's one of the power lists for Daemons that very few people like playing against. For a tournament, it's pretty much a min-max system already, so might as well go all the way. 3 min tough troops that gtg and hold objectives, or hide and hope that no-one pays attention to them. Three grinders and a thirster to smash people in combat, backed up with Fateweaver and Crushers that form a deadly hammer/anvil in and of themselves.

It's a strong army, one many people will have a hard time with. If you bring it to a friendly game you may find yourself losing friends. That's my definition of a git list, anyway.

eh...? I dunno about that. I bring it to friendly games. My friends do also.
LOL, I'm not going to get into this discussion. Done it too many times. I'll just put an IMHO and stick a fork in it. Draw your own conclusions based on where you play and what you play.

Just saying it's a hard list, I think my suggestions might make it a little harder. It should do well, if you get your reserve rolls right. Might have a problem with mech, but if you can smack things in CC you shouldn't do too bad. But it's not a list I'd like to play against unless I knew I was going up against tournament-caliber armies. If that's all you play with/against, then have fun!
