I am in the process of painting a crimson fist army, I don't play 40k and this is my first 40k army. I want it to look good on that table and be (kinda)true to the codex as it is being sold for charity.

With this in mind what colours should i be using for heads, weapons, shoulder pad trims and chest eagle.

I'm aware that only 1 fist gets painted until Vet. status is achieved but I'm painting both because it looks better and isn't too much of a departure from the codex.

This is what I'm planning -

Bolter's - Black and silver
Chest eagle - foundation yellow
Shoulder trims - unsure
heads - some stay blue, some to match the fist and some white.

I'm using sternguard too, are they white on trims and heads to signify 1st company

For the red bits, start with Mechrite Red, then work to red gore and high light with blood red.

Boltgun Metal and Chain Mail on the chest Aquila.

Wash as you see fit.

Bolters are Boltgun Metal then a Badab Black wash.

Chest aquila is Mithril Silver then a Badab Black wash.

Don't use any other helmet colours though. When you add more squads paint the bolters slightly different.
