Steel wire thickness for load bearing 25mm model arms?

I want to try out some quite complicated (for me) GS conversions. I want to use steel wire for the skeleton but am not sure what thickness I need. The vids I have seen look about 1mm - is that right?

Can this be cut with normal GW clippers?

Cheers

The wire from a paper clip is perfectly fine. Just get the larger, thicker kind if you feel the smaller ones are too flimsy.

Just get hold of some of the large paper clips and straighten them out. They are a decent size and aren't too flimsy.

Are you just converting or sculpting figures from scratch? Paperclips are fine for small conversions, but I wouldn't recommend them for a full armature, as you'll end up with kinks in the armature where you don't want them... For full armatures I recommend florists wire, around the 20 to 24 gauge depending on the tensile strength of the wire.

Stuart
