				<title>Daemon Articles/Tactics?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I'm trying to bring my interest and enthusiasm back.<br /> <br /> Can someone point me in the direction of, or link me, to some good daemon tactica articles? <br /> <br /> I'm pretty sure I read everything I can.<br /> <br /> ...<br /> <br /> Preferably articles that don't use Icons and use the offensive/defensive assault strategy.<br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ What exactly are you trying to find?<br /> <br /> Icons are a staple to most Daemon armies (although my junk rigged Pink Horror holding a Khorne Icon was frowned upon by the Fluff fanboys at my last tournament).<br /> <br /> If you want, I'm always more than happy to discuss Daemon tactics with fellow daemon players. 				<title>Daemon Articles/Tactics?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Not sure about a staple.  They can be very handy, that's for sure.  But I don't tend to use them till it hits 2k points.  I run a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(308);'>MSU</span> list around fateweaver, with 3 suicide squads of flamers.  On the initial drop the icons don't help.  Afterward, with the run rule for my non-shooting units, and no need to get a unit of bloodcrushers as close as possible, I don't usually mind a little bit of drift.  <br /> <br /> As for the flamers, I try to bring in 2 on the first round, that way at least 1 is coming in on round one.  So no icon for the 1-2 that I want to land in specific spots anyhow.  For the later one, while an icon could help, it's not typically critical enough to spend 25pts each in a couple of different units to make sure that one is close enough to where I want to come in.  4 units taking icons is almost the same cost as one of my squads of flamers, 1-2 icons are easy enough for the opponent to neutralize, and even if they don't, you can be out of position for using them. Bringing down a unit of flamers on target to toast a unit that's locked into <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>CC</span> with the plaguebearers carrying the icon doesn't help much.  Dropping a unit of 'letters might, but a bit further off, run closer, then next round move closer and assault.  Saves you 25 pts., the plaguebearers probably aren't going anywhere, and since you can't assault the round you land anyhow, it seems to work just as well.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I would stay well clear of the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(3);'>40k</span> daemon review site.  It's pretty biased.<br /> <br /> For example, he says, "Transfixing Gaze: Ho hum, deny one enemy one attack. Since you go first and are probably going to torrent the enemy dead...who cares about this? Silly ability."<br /> <br /> Transfixing gaze is anything but silly, when used in the right place.   It's a fairly inexpensive upgrade, and can allow your keeper of secrets to avoid that hidden powerfist that is likely the only thing in the squad he's worried about.  <br /> <br /> <br /> In reality, all the gods have their strong units, and their weak units.   All the Greater Daemons are fun to play with, but don't get carried away with upgrades, they're usually good as they are.   Notable buys include Unholy Might for the Blooodthirster, Transfixing Gaze for the Keeper, and lots of people seem to like either Breath of Chaos or Daemonic Gaze on the Great Unclean Ones.   <br /> <br /> Chariots are the way to go with Heralds, Khorne, Tzeentch and Slaanesh can all run good chariot-mounted heralds at a competitive price.<br /> <br /> Elites:<br /> Bloodcrushers are very good.  Flamers are fairly dependent on where they come in but can deal far more damage than they cost with a little luck.  Fiends are more fragile than crushers, but point-for-point can actually deal more damage, especially against targets with an invul. save (Take fiends against people running thunderhammer/stormshield termies or Crushers...)   Beasts of Nurgle are not a very competitive choice but can be themey.<br /> <br /> Troops:<br /> Slaanesh loses out here, although khorne suffers a bit too.  This is more to do with the nature of missions in 5th ed than the actual strengths of the troops.   When you need to use your troops to sit on an objective, troops that are fairly vulnerable to shooting attacks and have only melee weapons just sit around too often.   Plaguebearers can take a ton of punishment and survive.  Horrors are shooty and can take cheap Bolts of Tzeentch for anti-tank duty.   The Changeling is one of the best 5-point upgrades in the game. <br /> <br /> Fast Attack:<br /> Seekers of Slaanesh are the best choice here, but they're fragile, so take them in large numbers if you take them.  (They're also hard to find currently, you might need to wait until the 2nd wave daemon releases.)    Flesh Hounds are not a bad choice in a khorne-only army, and can do well at tying up enemy shooters, giving your infantry time to get there.   Screamers of Tzeentch might get more play after the new guard codex comes out.<br /> <br /> Heavy:<br /> Soul Grinders are just good.  AV13 Walkers are the answer to a number of problems, and either of their shooting upgrades has uses (as does keeping them cheap and not buying an upgrade).<br /> <br /> Daemon Princes get expensive as you upgrade them, and they only have so many wounds.   It seems best to bring more than one if you're bringing any, and try to keep the costs down.   Wings, specifically, are super-expensive so you'll need to decide if you really need them or not.]]></description>
