Eldar Jetbikes: Worth it or Not + A simple Question

Two simple questions I want to verify before purchase.
a) With a squad of 5x Eldar Jetbikes and 1X Lock mounted Jetbike, may I still upgrade 2 with Shuriken Cannons?
b) And can a Lock mounted Jetbike be upgraded with a Shuriken Cannon?

But the real question is are Gardian Jetbikes worth it? For 22 point each with simple upgrades am I really getting a good deal, and if so how must they be played and how big of a squad do I need for greatest results (for say a approx. 1000 point army)?

Eldar Jetbikes: Worth it or Not + A simple Question

a) no, you must have 3 Guardian Jetbikes for every Shuriken Cannon. A Warlock is not a Guardian.
b) no, every third Guardian Jetbike may take a Shuriken Cannon and again a Warlock isn't a Guardian.

Guardian Jetbikes definately can be worth it. They need to have a Warlock with Embolden in the squad though, as they are just as vulnerable to morale checks as regular Guardians are. Bigger squads can also help with this, as more casualties are needed to force a morale check on them.

The problem with the Guardian Jetbikes is pushing the opponent off of the objective. They aren't good enough in combat, and they can't tank shock (like Wave Serpent/Falcon mounted troops choices can). Therefore, to capture objectives with them, the rest of your army has to be able to clear those objectives, or preferably keep the enemy away from them in the first place.

I would never take only Guardian Jetbikes as my troops choices, as they are too fragile to have your entire game depend on them. They are definately one of the most valuable troops choices in the Eldar codex though.

Re:Eldar Jetbikes: Worth it or Not + A simple Question

Agreeded on both counts.

Why should GJS go after troops? With the amount of mechenised lists kicking around (about to shoot up with the up&coming IG codex) those 2 shuriken cannons will prove to be invaluble, when you turbo-boost a squad with a re-rollable LD9.

Eldar Jetbikes: Worth it or Not + A simple Question

Very much worth it.

They have 12" move, shoot a twin linked weapon, 6" move in assault phase. Every 3rd bike can have a shuriken cannon.

They may turbo boost 24" and get a 4+ cover save.

Case closed.

shruiken cannons are assault, no reason not to have as many as you can, since they don't hamper movement like they did in previous editions

Eldar Jetbikes: Worth it or Not + A simple Question

That somewhat depends on how many other scoring units you have. If you're running a Mech list the relies heavily on Aspects and a bike-mounted Seer Council to get stuff done then you want to get as many seperate scoring units as you can (up to a point of course). Those little squads of three or four are useful for objective missions, and if you swing 'em round the edges and don't expose them to too much fine they're decently survivable.

If you're shorter on Troop slots, and/or longer on scoring units then the 6 man squads are fine.
