Necrons in 5E!

I'm looking at an original codex of Necrons and do not have any errata or re-prints, I have heard there are some and require some clarification.

1. Tomb Spyders are deployed as a single unit, does that mean they count as a single KP and only if you kill all (1-3) of them, or is it one for each spyder?

2. I have read of turbo boosting scarabs with 2+ cover saves. How can they turbo boost, are they jetbikes now? And is this swarms/stealth rule still working with turbo boosting?

Necrons WBB in 5E:

1. A Necron lord joins a unit, they all die except him. There's no one around for miles (ie 48"), does the necron lord count as part of their 'unit' or because he's not their type will they all die?

2. A unit is killed with power weapons when it is within 6" of a Necron lord with orb, the whole unit is annihilated and no models of the same type are within 6", in the ensuing chaos between their death and the start of the next turn, the Necron lord moves out of 6" but another Necron unit (of the same type) now moves within 6"... What happens? Also what happens under all possible circumstances of starting within 6" and then moving out and vice versa?

I tried to find answers and I mostly got either out dated info or conflicting answers lol, any light to be shed, or even your opinion, would be greatly appreciated!

ihatehumans wrote:1. I have read of turbo boosting scarabs with 2+ cover saves. How can they turbo boost, are they jetbikes now? And is this swarms/stealth rule still working with turbo boosting?

From the Necron FAQ:
Q. As Scarab Swarms move like jetbikes, do they also have the turbo boosters universal special rule?
A. Yes, they may make use of the turbo boosters

So, they can turbo-boost, gaining a 3+ Cover save, which is then turned into a 2+ Cover Save because of their "Small target" Rule.

ihatehumans wrote:Necrons WBB in 5E:

Wooo boy we'll be here a while!

ihatehumans wrote:1. A Necron lord joins a unit, they all die except him. There's no one around for miles (ie 48"), does the necron lord count as part of their 'unit' or because he's not their type will they all die?

Your warriors are out of luck. For a model to get WBB there has to be an undamgaged model of the same type, not of the same unit, within 6". Because there are no warriors left, you cannot get WBB. The lord is the exception and can always attempt WBB even if there is no Lord within 6".

ihatehumans wrote:2.

If the Unit is Killed while the orb was in range, then they are elagable for WBB, even if the lord somehow moves out of range afterwards. You check to see if a Necron can get WBB at the start of the movement phase, so as long as there is a Necron Model of the same type within 6" of a downed necron at the start of the movement phase, they may attempt WBB.

ihatehumans wrote:I tried to find answers and I mostly got either out dated info or conflicting answers lol, any light to be shed, or even your opinion, would be greatly appreciated!

Yeah, thats the price you pay for playing an old codex. As a Space Wolf Player I feel some of your pain, but only some. At least our codex didn't go through 42 different secret revisions and printings with no indication as to which one was the most recent. Oh well.

Thanks for that! Helps a lot.

I don't personally own a necrons army, I was curious about collecting them, a lot of people say they are crap now but they seem alright.

The irony in your final statement is I narrowed down the next army I want to collect down to Necrons and Dark Eldar rofl! Well I've got like a pretty good chance they will release a codex for one of em soonish!

The only instance that requires you to measure at the time of the casualty is when the Res Orb is needed for WBB. (As per the FAQ) Even in this case you STILL must measure at the beginning of the Necron turn to make sure that the model is within 6" of a like model.

So:

Necron takes a wound from a failed save NOT ID, and NOT a CC attack that denies saves: Measure for like models within 6" at the start of the Necron turn.
Necron takes a wound from a failed save either ID, and/or a CC attack that denies saves: Measure for Res Orb within 6" immediately, THEN measure for like models within 6" at the start of the Necron turn.

I think bladedragon was talking about the res orb measuring he just worded it wrong lol, but thanks for making sure it was still clear lordhat!
