A good starting force is a box or two of warriors, a raider, maybe a couple of reaver jetbikes and an archon to lead it all. This gives the starting point for both a raider army or a balanced army. I would wait until the new codex comes out to ask for advice if you are in a waiting pattern anyway. Since they will probably redo much of the line, and the codex is older than dirt, any advice we give you on dark eldar right now might change completely between now and their release.

BUT if you just have to start buying DE stuff, I would get a couple of squads of warriors with dark lances mounted in raiders with dark lances. The Archon isn't a bad suggestion for the initial HQ.
