eh, mobile armies should be more or les crippled after 14 combimeltas land right next to their mobility (tanks) and melt them all.

I would take 6x combimeltas in the 10 man SG unit, so you can combat squad and still have 3 combimeltas per CS (3 melta shots at 6" range should average a dead tank of any armor value).

The Attack Bikes feel pretty out of place to me, and I feel like you should find something anti-horde in place of them (you have enough melta/AT fire coming out of the pods that the MMs on the attack bikes feel redundant).

You could consider dropping the bikes for a Librarian with Gate and Null Zone, and then trying to find 10 points for a locator beacon on one of the SG pods. The Lib rolls with the big unit (if it combat squads it picks one of the CSs and stays with them) and uses Gate to bounce around the pod so they can stay out of prolonged combats and keep shooting for longer since the guns are their strength (even with Kantors +1 attack bubble the bolter rounds are quite good).

How are you planning on using DPA? All 10 man squads first, then the rest of the sternguard?

I think all of the points tied up in power fists are a complete waste. Sternguard aren't made for assault, and neither are regular tac marines.

Pedro isn't very survivable at all in close combat, and the squad he is in looks like it's made for use with combat squads, which hurts his survivability even more.

I've had a lot of fun running a 10 man sternguard unit with Lysander attached, with a bunch of combi-meltas. Lysander twin links their bolters, and gives the unit a lot of survivability.

With the upcoming IG codex hurting reserve based armies a lot, I don't think so many drop pods is the way to go (I would probably only use 1, at most around 3).

DPA will vary depending on the enemy, of course. I might drop the Tac Squads down on objectives or drop the Sternguard in against a hard target, etc. It always varies, though. Since I get three Pods, I have a lot of options.

Power Fists are never a waste. Ever. Nothing ties down a unit like a Dread or something nasty. You want to take it out, a PFist is the way to do it. I would hate my expensive Sternguard to buy it to a Dread when a PFist gives them a shot to get away.

Pedro can go anywhere with any group, including a Tac Squad. Just depends on where I want to attach him.

I don't see how Drop Pod armies are hurt by IG. Even with a modifier against my reserve, I still get 3 Pods first turn. That means up to 4 Dead Tanks (Combat Squad w/ 2 smaller Sternguards shooting Meltas).
Maybe I've missunderstood Deep Strike, I was under the impression that you can't land your units within 1" of an enemy model. With 2" unit coherancy and the fact that all your models Deep Striking in need to be at least 1" away. You can effectivly shield the tanks by clustering them and then using 1 infantry platoon of 35 or so guys to block off 1 round melta shots, and keep multi melta to 1D6 ArP

Placing the tanks against the board edge lets you also start your infantry wall 2" from the edge. If the Deep strike tries to land in that 1" corridor (suicide) they will likely be denied all models or scatter off the board. so to protect say 2 Leman Russ Battle Tanks

4 models is all it takes at max unit coherancy to project a 12" zone for no deep strike with a 3" width (taking model base to be 1" plus the 1" to each side)

If you wanted to do it with less models you could do a grid pattern with some of the filler infantry missing. This WOULD allow you to Deep Strike into the small gap 1" x3" or so if you did it right, but whatever models couldn't fit would be lost.

Well reguardless, I think the easy answer would be to take a dreadnaught or two with lascannon.

em_en_oh_pee wrote:Does this look stronger than my last list?

I think so. At 1500 points it might be difficult for some people to handle the ironclad. It also gives you some protection against bloodcrushers. Against some armies he will die very quickly if you put him too close to their meltagun sources.

em_en_oh_pee wrote:Does it look competative?

Absolutely. Almost everything scoring, lots of answers to horde and mech. Have fun

Well, at this point it is all theory. You need to playtest and identify the inobvious weaknesses and shortcomings. It will have holes, they all do. You just need to play as many games against as many different armies as you can squeeze in and find those holes. We can help plug them once they are identified. As of now it is a solid, competetive all comers list.
