Red 'uns go fasta!

I have a theory why red ones actually go faster. I now believe that the Empire (in their twisted religious ignorance) is wrong in their "psychic" theory.

Everything the Orks have is somehow locked up in their DNA and all of the knowledge they possess functions more like instinct, especially the Oddboyz. When an Oddboy Mech builds a vehicle, it is from instinct and a type of sub-conscious racial memory (the closest thing Orks have to evolution and is a psychic ability). When a Boss, vehicle driver or the Mech himself decides to paint a vehicle red, it triggers a deep rooted subconscious memory that compels the Mech in a sort of self-fulfilling prophecy to tune the vehicle one last time. Without even realizing it, he is tweaking the carburetor, fine tuning the intake and exhaust and basically squeezing every once of Squig-Power out of the engine and transmission. In the Mech's conscious mind, he's just giving it a once over, but somewhere instinctively he's perpetuating the legend of why red ones go faster.

Anyway, that's my B.S. (uh, I mean my version of the fluff) and I'm sticking to it.

They could have had fur the colour of grey, brown, yellow, and of course red. And the Red were faster. Or, there was just one species of red boars which became gray and slow when old. In this way, from day one, It was common knowledge that red boars were faster. And orks being orks having an ork's sense of logic, this also went for vehicles. That is just my idea of how red got that symbolic value to it.

My father on the other hand stays to waaagh! the orks and that there is no such a thing as ork telekinetic unconcioss (how was that spelled now again?) psychic ability, and that the Mek boys always as routine finish a repair and going thru of the vehicles with a new coat of red paint, thus making them outperform the rest of the ork vehicles.
