Snacky Cakey Pie Snack!

It's time for another gastronomic thread!

So, when you've had your Dinner, and there's a while to go before bed, what do you turn to when your teeth get bored?

Personally, I favour something fast and simple, which is why I always maintain a good stock of Sainsbury's Own Brand Chicken Curry Flavour Noodles. Now cheap and cheerful as they are, they are seriously tasty, especially if you add a little something to the water. I recently discovered a range of spices called 'Daily Grind' and have been using their Chilli and Garlic grinder to great effect. Just that extra little kick which brings the depth otherwise missing from the cheapo Noodles. And at 10p per packet, I'm hardly complaining!

Sometimes however, I do find my tastes becoming slightly more sophisticated post Dinner. At this point, I usually find a cheese and tomato sandwich on brown goes down pretty well. Enough to take the edge off my appetite, and relatively healthy as well, all things considered.

Whilst I do eat crisps and sweets from time to time, I am trying to change my diet to a more healthy one, so these are usually resisted unless I'm on the hoof and don't have time to fanny about in the kitchen making something better!

"American" biscuits (like what you'd eat with sausage gravy) are not the same as scones. You can get scones in the US, and I wouldn't put gravy on a scone - I don't think anyone else would either. Jam or cream or whatever is more in order for that, I agree.

I don't really see why some Brits think biscuits and gravy is so weird, besides the name. If it was actually cookies or scones with gravy, yes, that would be weird. But it's not, it's something different. If we called it "quick bread and gravy" would it still be weird?

Also where Scottish Monarchs used to be crowned.

I usually say Scone to rhyme with 'Gone' and as far as I'm concerned, that is the correct way to pronounce it.
