Re:Warriors of Chaos (2000)

Also, you have a lot of points sunk into making your fodder units really large when smaller is better. Here's what you posted cleaned up:

L: Chaos Lord - chaos runesword, armor of morrslieb, favor of the gods, shield = 310

C: 15 Chaos Warriors - full command, shields = 270
C: 15 Chaos Warriors - full command, shields = 270
C: 15 Chaos Warriors - full command, shields = 270
C: 5 Horsemen - musician, spears, light armor = 81
C: 5 Horsemen - musician, spears, light armor = 81
C: 5 Warhounds = 30
C: 5 Warhounds = 30

R: Warshrine = 130
R: Warshrine = 130
-----------
1602 points

Essentially, you have a solid infantry core with a variety of support units, and warshrines for more support and buffageddon. While I think your lord build could be improved upon (morrslieb I don't totally trust, cause how often does the lord go up against other super-fighters, who have magic weapons and whatever everywhere? basically, you need to pick your fights, and since he's on foot, that becomes less of an option), I've stuck with just adding a shield to cheaply get his save up.

So the question now is where do you want to go from here? With so much infantry I'd heartily suggest a BSB, and then putting some points into a hammer or two - like a meaty knight unit or so. Oh, and I guess you could dump some points into a scroll caddy, but that's points you might rather have killing somebody ...

EDIT:

Maybe something like this ...

L: Chaos Lord - axe of khorne, armor of morrslieb, shield = 300
H: Exalted - BSB, collar of khorne, shield = 165

C: 15 Chaos Warriors - full command, shields = 270
C: 15 Chaos Warriors - full command, shields = 270
C: 15 Chaos Warriors - full command, shields = 270
C: 5 Horsemen - musician, spears, light armor = 81
C: 5 Horsemen - musician, spears, light armor = 81

S: Chariot - MoK = 150
S: Chariot - MoK = 150

R: Warshrine = 130
R: Warshrine = 130
-----------
1997 points

The dogs got ground up to make way for double cruise-missiles. Truly scary machines, just need to deploy them centrally, watch their charge arcs and kil kil kil.
Also downgraded the lord's r-sword to the k-axe, keeps the +1S (the most important part of the r-sword for a lord, IMO) but killing blow gets most everybody's panties in a bind. Also freed up the points (+5 for the favor) to get the BSB the k-collar, so MR(2) for a block.

- Salvage

Aside from specific exceptions (Dispell Scrolls, Power Stones, and DE Null Talismans are the only ones coming to mind), you can't take any magic item more than once in your list. This includes Familiars and Favor of the Gods.

Warhounds are sacrificial units and should be kept to a minimum. They got some interesting options, but those are largely useless.

Marauder Horsemen are distraction units. Use them to draw enemy units away from charging your blocks. These guys can't stand up to much in combat, especially in subsequent rounds. Split the unit in two, give them flails instead of spears, and only give them musicians - standards for these guys are just easy points for the enemy.

That's looking better.

Three blocks of Chaos Warriors will give just about everything pause, and the four diversionary units will help get them into combat. Decent magic defense, and a strong Lord to rough up enemy characters.

Your one weakness right now is durability. You've only got three units that can stand a chance in combat. If they get hit by anyting powerful (cavalry, monsters, Steam Tank...) they're in trouble.

You've got about 150 points. Consider adding in a couple of Spawn to tie up opposing uber-units.

NOTE: Sorry to keep nitpicking, but aside from Scrolls/Stones, you can only get ONE Arcane item, and Heroes can only take 50 points worth of items. If you swap the Spell Familiar and the Dispell Scroll, you'll be all set.

So, I was given a unit of Marauders by a friend who won them in a local tournament. Yes, the 5+ Ward Save is the reason I gave it to him! 1+/5+ for the Lord is sweet.

Blood of Tzeentch has been working pretty well so far.
