personally, I think that if GW wanted to use LOS as a mechanic rather than the old base to base system, that all models should be adequately scaled as a balance to their stats (or maybe compensated with a rule update for particularly big or small models, extra cover for tiny tau as example).

sadly, the chances of us getting lovely new actual scale, multi-part marine models are next to nil, as it would make most of their SM models near obsolete.
But, you never know. They did make the placky terminators bigger. And you would be able to re-use a lot of the important bitz from old tactical marine based kits like heads, weapons and accessories, given that they are, thanks to heavy heroic scale, the right size.
