New Plastic Valkyrie Review

Blessed by some luck, my LGS got in a GW order. It didn't contain the Creed I had ordered, but, somehow, it contained the Valkyrie! I don't have a camera, and it's already put together, but I have some things to say about this kit. I might be able to take some pictures later with a friends camera and upload them.

It's awesome
It's HUGE
It's easy as heck to put together
It comes with 4 seriously sweet heads
It does NOT come with the parts to assemble a Vendetta. Guess you'll have to buy 6 lascannons and put them on somewhere for now. I was really disappointed in this fact.
The wings fit extremely snug! I thought I would have to glue them onto the mounts, but it turns out I didn't have to. I suppose they designed it with transport in mind, so you can just gently tug the wings off. I found this to be a really nice part of the kit, because I was worrying about transporting 3 of these huge models around.

When I first opened the box I kinda was gaping at the size of the sprues. It's wingspan is easily the width of a Baneblade, and nearly as long as one. It's almost identical in length to the Forge World Vulture, for any references.

Here are some helpful hints for when you put together this kit.

Assembling the tail booms is easy, but you might become confused as how to put the tail fins on. Since their sprues aren't marked, and they use no numbers in the directions, you'll have to figure out which fins fit on which tail boom. I made a few mistakes before I got it correct.

The directions don't really say it's an absolute must to assemble the engines first, and then glue on the 4 fuel hoses onto each engine. Do this, because if you don't put the fuel hoses on before you put the engines on the craft, the innermost fuel hose next to the hull will be almost impossible to fit on correctly.

The door gunners are a slight nuisance to deal with, but I think it was just me being silly in the end. Their feet would separate from the deck at any slight nudge, even when superglued down. I ended up taking a friends advice, removing them all together, and placing the heavy bolters under slung on the troop section of the crafts hull. Looks pretty neat.

Now the doors. I wasn't really sure how to place these at first, because I had put the gunners on, and I wasn't really looking at the directions, but a lightbulb came on and I thought I could place them to the back of the craft, like they slide back and forth over the hull like a Huey's doors. Looks fine.

The cockpit. Well, I kinda feel like a dunce, and I chock this up to me being clumsy, but I got plastic glue on the clear pieces of the cockpit window. Kind of looks hazy now, but I'll take that as a cool effect made in mistake

The one problem that I did not expect to come up, and took an annoying amount of time to correct, was the stand. Yeah. It is indeed a cross shaped stand and very sturdy...but there was one problem with mine. The end did not fit into the cross mount you put on the bottom of the hull. Thats right. It was seriously a millimeter too fat in every direction to even POSSIBLY fit into the hole! I had to spend an hour filing and sanding down the edges of the stand to get it to fit correctly into the hole. So I would suggest strongly that you CHECK if your stand fits into the cross mount before even building it, so you can sand down the piece that connects to the plane itself, not the stand.

All in all, good job GW. Except you fail on the stand. I hope that my next one that comes won't have this problem x.x

If you have any questions, ask away.

The Kit is indeed awsome!!

BUT, when it comes to the T-section for the stand it is best to make sure it fits before you glue it to the body. Just take the clear stand bit and firmly push it into the T-section bit. Do this several times before you glue it to your Valkyrie and you will be very happy that you did.

Again this is a awsome kit. And did I mention this kit is Awsome.

I'm in love.

Luv, love, love.

Everything the OP said is right, it fits together like a dream, the wings do NOT need gluing or magnets, they can slide in and out on their own.

I'm lazy, I won't do the interiors so I'll paint over the canopy and glued most of the doors shut. Didn't do the door guns either.

I had some LR las cannons around so used them to make a vendetta.
Argh! I was so set on doing Slamanders as my next army, but seeing all the cool Imp Guard stuff makes me really want to collect them too.

Nice review on the kit by the way, especially the hint about the fuel lines and stand.
