Pure Slaanesh = bad for Daemon?

When I took a break from WHFB and my SoC Slaanesh Daemon army 2 years ago they were somewhat different from what they are now. I've read alot of the posts about Daemon armys and find people consider them cheese, but Slaanesh seems pretty far away from the spotlight. Here then comes my question; is Slaanesh considered uncompetitive to the other Chaos Gods or just less spoken of? Where would a list like this one rank? Kind of what I'm hoping for is that it would be balanced just bad for Daemon if you skipped the anvil, hounds, thirster and flamers.

Daemon Prince(335) (300 + 35 for mark)
lvl 2 (85), Immortal Fury (25), Soul Hunger (25), Winged Horror (20), Torment Blade (5)
495

Herald of Slaanesh (90)
lvl 1 (50), Steed (25), Enrapturing Gaze (25), Allure of Slaanesh (25)
BSB (25), Great Icon of Despair (75)
315

Herald of Slaanesh (90)
lvl 1 (50), Chariot (75)
215

The Masque
90

Characters: 1115

12 Daemonettes 144
12 Daemonettes 144
12 Daemonettes 144

Core: 432

5 Seekers of Slaanesh 120
5 Seekers of Slaanesh 120
4 Seekers of Slaanesh (BSB in this one)
+1 Allures (unit champion)
132

Special: 372

3 Fiends of Slaanesh 165
3 Fiends of Slaanesh 165

Rare: 330

Total: 2249/2250

Pure Slaanesh = bad for Daemon?

Pure Slaanesh would suck, except you're doing the LD Bomb army, which is arguably one of the most powerful armies in the game.

The trick you're missing to make it more effective is an actual Keeper of Secrets w/ Siren Song.

Past that and the characters, that's what the army uses to make it work. All the other stuff works "OK" as Slaanesh, but you're always better off with Horrors/Hounds instead of Demonetts/Seekers.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I can see what you mean with the Keeper. As for the rest I will think over how too tweak and replace to make the list less reliant on a cheesy character combo. Would it still be viable if I removed the LD bomb alltogether then threw in the KoS + horros/hounds instead of the daemonettes/seekers?

On the other hand, since I currently own zero models anyway but feel like getting back in the game with something mobile (not being all ItP could make things more interesing too). Is there any other army that can make an interesting MSU-like list without being all dependant on cavalry?

Re:Pure Slaanesh = bad for Daemon?

Slannesh deamon armys are super powerfull, but they are also a glass knife. you can mess with people with ur 20 in charge though, it scares alot of players and messes with there battle plan. the LD combos are great but the keeper is def. a better pick over 2000 pts to help them work. seekers kick so much butt its scary, if you go second ull have cc on ur first turn most of the time.

Pure Slaanesh = bad for Daemon?

I've been thinking somewhat of it and it feels really lame playing an army that forces you to weigh good choices against the fact that your army will be so powerful people consider you lame.

I'm thinking about going beasts (something I wanted before I took a break) OK, or maybe some elf type of list. Either way thanks for the replies and good info.

Re:Pure Slaanesh = bad for Daemon?

If I were you I would steer clear of beastmen until they get a rewrite. With the new chaos rules, they lost half or more of what they could take. And it was the hard hitting part. All they are left with is some specialist units that are fine if they are supporting a harder core. Which they lack. Ogres are a tough army to learn. You pretty much have to min max the army as far as it can go to have something that can win. Any of the elves lists are fine, though DE can be over powered in some configurations.

As for the pure slannesh: If you stick only to slaanesh units, you won't be over the top. Even with the leadership bomb. Daemonettes fight with nerfbats. Fiends are just better ogres. Seekers are great, but no official models in print. (and the old ones are terrible). Lore of slannesh is potentially the best one, but you can only get level 1 heralds, and the kipper is super expensive with anything above level 1.

Pure Slaanesh = bad for Daemon?

I've been looking around and theorycrafted over quite alot of armies since I really don't afford starting something atm anyway.

About this thing with the beasts losing most of their units. Does this mean they cannot take the old type daemons/mortals since they're no longer valid and can't take the new ones since there are no such rules? I had kinda hoped they could still take the old ones. Anyway, if that is not the case, do you know if there's a rewrite coming up within perhaps a couple of months?
