				<description><![CDATA[ Hey all, as the title says, these should be quick and easy.<br /> <br /> 1.  Can scouts assault after deepstriking in on a land speeder storm.  Deepstriking speed is cruising and it is open topped.<br /> <br /> 2.  Can a 10 strong scout unit combat squad into 2 land speeder storms in reserves?<br /> <br /> I think that the answer to both is yes, but I would rather have it be pointed out to me here that I am an idiot than when I spring the mega scout bomb.  (Playing against Valks has me taking a second look at this option).]]></description>

There are a number of rules that state/suggest this. First is in the rules for drop pods which say "A unit that Deep Strikes via Drop Pod may not assault in the turn it arrives". This implies that a unit arriving via a transport counts as Deep Striking. But of course, that is "specific" to drop pods. We can also back it up from the rules on page 95 of the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(13);'>BRB</span>, which state "In the Movement phase when they arrive, these units may not move any further, other than to disembark from a deep striking transport vehicle. Units deep striking into ruined buildings are placed on the ground floor, They may not deep strike directly inside a transport vehicle or a building, which will count as impassable terrain as normal." which again shows that the unit inside a transport count as Deep Striking. The rules then go on to state that "In that turn's Assault phase, however, these units may not launch an assault (even if they have the 'fleet' special rule), unless clearly stated in their special rules - they are too disrupted by their deep strike move."<br /> <br /> So, in short, No they cannot assault because they count as Deep Striking as Well. Space Marine Squads Cannot Combat Squad before they are Deployed onto the table, either by starting on the board or by moving in from reserves. As they cannot be split in reserves, they can never fit onto the storms. What you will have to do is move everything on 1" (for example) combat squading as you go, then use the rest of your move to embark on the Storms. This of course Precludes the Storms from moving any further, so it is undesirable. Not to mention the Storms Come on with a separate reserve roll. You can buy 2 Storms and 2 Five Man Scouts and have them embark in reserves, then you can choose to Deep Strike them or Outflank them. You will roll 2 Dice though don't forget, one for each pair of Storm + Scout. Not to mention you are getting 2 Sergeants instead of 1, so you can grab two Power Fists Dawg!]]></description>
