Nobz Model Assembly Advice Request

Hey There,

Im new to the hobby, and have just bought my first box of nobz. I was looking at the codex, and trying to decide how to make these guys as killy as I can. Now based on how the codex reads it looks like I can replace my choppa with a big choppa or a power klaw. It also says I can replace my slugga with a twin linked shoota, kombi-skorcha or kombi-rokkit.

So I think: w00t! Kombi weapons with power klaws! Awesome!

However when I look at the sprues the big choppas and kombi weapons appear to be two handed (to the point that the gun portion of the model has the second hand already on it). So how can I give them both a kombi weapon and a klaw? Or even a kombi weapon and a big choppa? Am I even allowed to? It seems as though I should be from the codex.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers!

Well that be a bummer! I was hoping there would be an easier way to go about it than having to do the conversion myself. I am not, shall we say, a model artiste....

Can anyone verify if its even legal to use a big choopa or power klaw and a kombi weapon together? Looks so based on the codex as I mentioned, but unfortunately the wording could be subject to interpretation.

Thanks for the help!

I wouldve thought that you can use both a powerklaw AND kombi weapon...it doesnt say OR it just says can replace slugga with . . . . followed by can replace choppa with . . .
So by my reckoning you can have both of them, though I dont want to say for certain

As for some hobby advice for making kombi weapons from single handed ones. You could always say...take the shoot and possibly just simply stick on a flamer or something. I have a nob and gave it a twin linked shoota just by glueing another barrel on the side. From there you could take a bit off of a slugga and play around to make it look more like the other weapon is attached.

Just a few ideas

Nobz Model Assembly Advice Request

Hey, having just finished my nobz myself Might be able to help you out.

Firstly are all your nobz going to be armed in a similar way (kombi shootas + power klaws or kombi shootas +big choppas)?

If that is the case you can probably get away with modelling mixed weapons in the unit (some with kombi shootas and come with power klaws/big choppas) and get away with minimal conversions. Otherwise you will have to get converting lol

On a side note I'm not sure if Kombi-shoota/big choppa is legal, I know in the old rules (not very familiar with 5th ed yet) that a model could be armed with either 1 two-handed weapon and 1 one-handed weapon or 2 one-handed weapons, and a big choppa classed as a two-handed weapon. We may want to get a rules buff in here to clarify.

looking forward to seeing some pics soon!

Thanks for all the help! I checked the rules and it seems like there is no provision regarding 2 handed and 1 handed weapons, or the mixing thereof. In the Ork Codex it says that a big choppa would be 2 handed, so I assume that would not allow the extra attack in close combat for having a slugga anyways. Also true of a power klaw I believe since they use the rules for powerfists (which I believe you only get two attacks with if you have dual powerfists).

I will likely go the "put the choppa on his back" route for most of them, as the box only gives you 3 powerklaws anyways. Darn it, need to go get another box of nobz now to fill out the squads, LOL! they never give you everything you need in one box, eh? hehe....
