Using fire warriors as pathfinders?

Hi All,

After doing an inventory of how many models I have left (too many) to assemble and paint. I've found that I've got 8 fire warriors left. I was looking through the codex and saw the pathfinder unit and was wondering if it's doable to use firewarriors as pathfinders? I'm thinking I could cut/sand off the armor plates on the legs as the pathfinders don't have those. Not sure what else it would take or if this would even be a do-able job, I think it'd just buy a blister of the ones with the rail rifle if I want to use those. Does anyone have expeirence doing this?

It should work easily.

I think not attaching the shoulder armor would be enough.
But if you want to file off their thigh armor , even better!

Using fire warriors as pathfinders?

The actual pathfinder models are a little smaller than the fire warrior models, so getting a blister of rail rifle models might look a little strange. You should be able to gin up some rail rifle arms using pulse rifle parts though.

I would second the call to leave shoulder pads off and would consider trying to find something appropriate to represent the markerlights on the Carbines, even if its just a wire or something leading back to their helmets.

Using fire warriors as pathfinders?

a few simple ideas:

1: dont add the shoulder pad.
2: cut legs and possition them all in a running / crouching stance like the path finder models (fire warriors seem too static)
3: give them all carbines.

should be enough work to make them different and stand out.
