1850 Footslogging Eldar

Here is a cool Eldar list.

Farseer
Witchblade, Spirit Stones, Runes of Warding, Runes of Witnessing
Guide, Doom, Fortune

2x 10x Dire Avengers
Power Weapon, Shimmershield, Bladestorm, Defend

3x 13x Guardians (Including Warlock)
Witchblade, Starcannon, Conceal

1x 3x D-Cannons (+ Warlock)
Witchblade, Embolden

2x 3x War Walkers
3x 2x Eldar Missile Launchers

It leaves 238 points free in 1850. You could add Asurmen or you could take a cheap Autarch and add ... Swooping Hawks maybe to really get good use of the +1 reserve rolls. Five Swooping Hawks and the Autarch can fit inside 238. You can drop wargear, too. You could even take only one or two D-Cannons but I like all the templates. Three from the cannons and six each from the War Walkers. The other option is Autarch + Warlock squad but I like the idea of Swooping Hawks for some reason. Mostly because the list is otherwise shooty. But Warlocks provide anti-tank insurance, of course.

If you're footslogging Eldar an Avatar is a shoe in.

I would drop the guardian squads down to ten and trade the starcannon for a scatter laser.

You don't have any CC or a Counter Assault group, with 238 points that can be a very beastly Harlequin Troupe.

Heres a thought; of you are footslogging ur gonna get shot.
Why not add a few warlocks with conceal to the rest of your units like the farseer ( you'd be surprised howmany 5+ cover saves you can make)
Or a wave serpent/falcon to protect them or is that to fast for you?

1850 Footslogging Eldar

The idea here is to put lots of bodies on the table. So it is ... 59 models in Troop. The Conceal goes in front, the DA behind. I think the D-Cannons might be a bit much, points wise, but they are very solid unit, especially with the Warlocks and especially since the list is otherwise shooty. I believe, although I am not certain the crew still get a cover save. The guns would only get a cover save from vehicles, terrain or other artillery. So basically if you do not bring any tanks or the Avatar any anti-tank fire is wasted.

I could bring a close combat unit but I think there is enough points (with five squads and the Autarch) in dedicated anti-infantry. Of course I could always lose two of the five squads but that defeats the whole point to the list in the first place.

So with the Warwalkers, the Swooping Hawks and everything else the model count is ... 1 + 1 + 59 + 5 + 3 + ( 3 + 6 + 1 ) == 79. Pretty high.

1850 Footslogging Eldar

An eldar list this slow has no choice buty to pony out for bright lances.

Exactly where is the problem. you might have to swap out two in each walker squadron either on one walker (the last to die) or spread between two.

Alternately take a wraithlord for Bs4 and some vurvivability.

Or you could add a couple of guardian squads and boost the sizes of those squads so the lances survive. it also helps your model count.

One way or another you need zomething to deal with a lurking Leman Russ in the enemy rear. Even Predators and Defilers will prove a problem with this list.

I actually had that problem once, although I think I still won the game. It was looted, it may have had to drive into a wall.

It may be more practical to bring Bright Lances rather than Starcannons.

On the other hand the D-Cannons move up 6" first turn, the War Walkers can flank (with the Autarch's help) and the Swooping Hawks have Haywire Grenades. Although the War Walkers will have to roll for which side they come in on, won't they.

1850 Footslogging Eldar

Honestly, if you want bodies, just run bodies. Storm Guardians will do what you want much better. Your starcannon platforms will only hit every other shot, so assuming the super-crappy/extremely killable crew lives, 6 hits a game per? That's 18 hits total. Assuming they live the entire game. You'd be better off with Fusion guns or Flamers so you can ignore their crappy BS. Throw an Enhance on there and you almost have a real troops choice. If your DA are getting into combat at all, you're playing wrong. It would be like me trying to charge with SoB or running Daemonettes. Give them shooty upgrades.

DA are killers. Bladestorm -> Assault. The Autarch and the Exarchs are at I6. Although admittedly I have only played a couple games in 5th where you actually have to KILL the enemy.

Those Russes can only kill so many Guardians every turn. I am definately going to try this one out a few times to see how it performs.

Re:1850 Footslogging Eldar

Your farseer is already clocking in at 175 points, spend a few more and get eldrad instead.

Your guardian squads with starcannons really arent going to kill anything important, swap over to BL so that they at least have some threat value? Its only 15 more points and gives you something to plink away on any heavy armor.

Your list is just begging for an avatar. Inspiring to all units within 12" is a huge plus for your list, and with eldrad along the avatar can be fortuned every turn. For a foot slogger army the avatar is almost a required unit. Plus he eats heavy armor for snacks.

Would love to drop the d cannons and add a WL. D cannons have disappointed me for too long while the WL almost always pays his way.

One last time; think a lot about adding an avatar.

Sliggoth

1850 Footslogging Eldar

I second thinking about the avatar. If it's footslogging (like my eldar force is), they must be led by a suitably massive footslogger. I'd also seriously consider harlequins as they're great at countercharge and with a shadowseer they become very hard to kill at range. I like it though... I have 30 guardians and 20 avengers just because I love the idea of WWI trench war in the 41st millenium.

1850 Footslogging Eldar

YEAH THATS RIGHT.

The Avatar is awesome but I am short the model until I get the FW bad boy painted up. I usually run three squads this is five. I am excited. I might try and fit Eldrad in, though. Maybe with Fire Prism instead of the War Walkers. (so no Autarch).

With Eldrad I could do one big squad of Conceal, with him in it, casting Fortune. Seems cheap/ weak though. I like the mobility of the three squads.
