As I watched, it occured to me that the rip taking was more affectionate rather than vindictive and there were enough small details to make me wonder whether the script writers had some experience of what they were making fun of. A highlight was when Christopher Minze-plasse killed the King who threw his toys out of the pram and refused to "die" insisting he had cast a spell of protection at the last second.

The end of season epic battle organised over the internet had the feeling of an actual event as well. I've seen small groups of LARPers on Southampton Common, but never anything more than five or six. Has anybody else seen the film? Do US LARPers really go to this much trouble with their costumes? And do they ever gather in epic numbers over in the States?
