What happens when a space marine dies?

It's been bugging me lately. What happens? Do they leave his mangled, gnarled, dead body on the side of the road as they march on? Do they never leave a man behind, even when he's been dead for ten minutes? Do they loot the bodies? Or do they give him a burial, resurrect part of him somehow, dole out the honors with some medals?

Typeline wrote:Who are they killing to get the extra normal organs and do they synthesize the enhanced organs or does the implementation of the gene seed allow for their growth?

They are not normal organs. Basically the process of creating a new Astartes is a combination of natural growth ( with plenty of hypnotherapy and chemical treatment ) and some parts being added by surgery. At least the Black Carapaces are grown in a bio-vat and then surgically implanted.

The only time when people are harvested to get organs are when the High Lords of Terra sanction the creation of a new Chapter. Carefully screened gene-seed are selected for Zygotes that are implanted in human test-slaves. Think of Aliens and you get the point. Each 2 progenoids created by a slave are then implanted into new slaves and so on, until the amount needed for a Chapter is reached. It takes roughly 50 years to produce the needed 1000 healthy new sets of organs.

Re:What happens when a space marine dies?

Yep. Pretty much anything and everything that can be salvaged, is. It's not unheard of for wargear beyond the ability of the chapter's forges to repair to be sent to an Adeptus Mechanicus forgeworld to see if they can repair it. Every weapon, vehicle, and set of armour is almost, if not completely, irreplaceable. So a Chapter will go to almost any length to have it's destroyed or damaged equipment restored.

The same goes for the marines, with their gene-seed and any undamaged organs being harvested to avoid having to wait for the growth of more. The bodies are then buried either according to Chapter custom, or the tradition of the tribe/clan/gang/etc... of the fallen marine's birth.

We're never on the same page and someone is always getting screwed with the few things that used to make them good. Marines on the other hand seem to always have the advantages (except for certain chapters of course) and always have some special character that confers the latest greatest ability to the entire army. I don't want bugs to have the greatest and biggest codex, I just want everyone to be on par with each other and not have these massive discrepancies.

Should this discussion not be part of a different forum ?

Didn't see if anyone mentioned this or not, but not all chapters have each organ, their individual gene seed is based off of that of their primarch. And each primarch being different gave each of their successor chapters a different edge. Example, Sanguinus, The Angelic, his successor chapters have the oomaphageo or whatever, lets them learn "by eating". Seen in the Soul Drinkers, and I believe the blood angels? Or Magnus the red, he had extremely powerful latent pyschic ability, therefor, all of the thousand sons, mostly all anyway, where psychers.

Especialy Since Chaos Terminators offer the Same Protection and they sure as hell don't have it. What about Preheresy Terminator Armour? Was that weaker than modern Armour?
2) If it has no place in the thread why post?
