Basically I've been play testing a few IG armies and every time I deploy an Infantry platoon I wonder what on earth is meant by "Each Infantry platoon counts as a single Troop choice on the force organisation chart when deploying, and is rolled for collectively when rolling for reserves." It would make perfect sense without "when deploying".

When deploying for DoW you deploy 2 troop + 1 HQ units. My only thought is "FOC" should be "unit" but sadly GW failed to write that. If any one could tell me what I'm missing I'd be grateful.

A Unit is a Unit.
The two are not the same.

FOC choices and Units are two seperate things.

FOC has to do with deployment (in the standard Missions anyway) is letting you know which units you might decide to deploy in DoW. IG has multiple "independent" units in a single FOC. Squadrons, for example, are a unit but can also be a FOC too. This can be confusing when it comes down to games. IG for the first time (victory!) against a guy playing AoBR Orks. We rolled DOW and I asked the redshirt in the store if in deploying 2 troops choices meant I could deploy the entire platoon as one troops unit. He said yes, the ENTIRE platoon counts as one troops unit.

And he would be right if this was the last codex. The new codex does nothing to make them deploy together. I started this thread to see if i was missing a rule, to do with FOC and deploying. ... See no mention of deployment and it still makes sense within your context

Edit it would also make more sense if they left out FOC then they could deploy at the same time...

Close but no Cigar. It says you may place one HQ Unit and two Troops units. No it is "units" specifically. The example given is of a Tactical Squad inside their Rhino being both Troops units available for Deployment.
