lobbas seem to be a decent addition to ork ranged/heavy support with the str5 ap5 blast, as well as not needing LOS, but kannons are 5 points cheaper and have the versatility of frags which are only one less strength and having the shell with decent tank bustin ability

A kannon is a stand alone missile launcher. S8 means they can glance AV 14, and a unit of 3 doesn't even come close to being effective stopping that armor. It can hit transports, infantry, and speeders with decent results, but lootas do it better.

Lobbas are probably the least useful of the lot, because S5 AP5 small templates really give your army nothing you can't get elsewhere. I guess they would be good in combating horde orks or guard, but even then, I would rather have more boyz on the ground than S5 template shots.

I actually rather like the zzap guns, despite the fact that they are unreliable. 36" ap2 variable strength. It is the Ap 2 that I like, and it is really the only long ranged AP2 orks have. The issue is, if you are not playing against marines or tau, chances are you will not make your points back. These guns are for shooting at infantry, and hoping for a decent strength; it is foolish to target a vehicle when, chances are, you will roll a strength value too low to scratch the paint. In my friends case he just scrapped the guns and took some Kans with Rokkit Launchas in their place.
