				<title>1500 IG Infantry Heavy</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ With this list I'm hoping for the mobs to clog up the objectives, the vets are my tank busters, the hellhounds thin out ranks and take care of tanks too, and the basilisks are for long range support.<br /> <br /> EDIT: added vox casters and special/heavy weapons to the mix; changed out Basilisk for a Leman Russ Executioner;  I plan to have 4 of the infantry squads combine into 2 20 man squads hence only vox casters for a couple of them. Now even a single model from a scoring unit can capture an objective.<br /> <br /> @<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(280);'>OP</span>:<br /> <br /> Lasgun <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> are really really awful. Even with orders they can rarely kill anything. Increase in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(6);'>AP</span> and points hurt, but what really makes them unusable is thier permanent minimum range. In standard games 36" is a large proportion of the board. Even if you leave them in the back corner there will be a lot that they cant target and this also leaves them vulnerable to outflankers/snikrott.  If you want to have artillery its better to go with Medusas with BB shells. Its only 15 extra points, but they are so much better at doing everything a basilisk can.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Naked guardsmen are horrible and dead guardsmen, as everybody else are saying, give the men some guns. <br /> <br /> If you drop 3x squads, you get 150pts. Let's spend it on autocannons for everybody, give the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(331);'>PCS</span>' flamers, and you've still got 50 pts to throw out special weapons to the troops (which can now all kill stuff)<br /> <br /> Basilisks are made of suck now, for 50 extra pts, you could actually get 2x russ, do this instead<br /> <br /> Your <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'><span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(338);'>CCS</span></span> could use a banner to keep all the infantry in line, some line commissars could be nice if you want to blob your platoons<br /> <br /> Vets are good, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(320);'>HH</span>'s are good]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Again, please correct me if Im wrong - but the minimum range for Basilisk doesnt apply unless you are firing indirectly.  those tanks that can only fire indirectly are specifically listed as such in the codex.<br /> <br /> Page 58  (main rulebook) discusses this, "If fired directly, they are treated exactly like normal ordnance weapons (ignoring the minimum range in the weapons profile)"<br /> <br /> so the Colossos and the Griffon cannot fire directly, but the Basilisk can.<br /> <br /> By firing directly, its weapons cease to be barrage ordanance.<br /> <br /> Ive had great success with Basilisks, but I keep them hunkered down behind cover at the start of the game, and recklessly drive them forward at afterwards (they dont tend to last too long anyway, so no need to get attached to them!)<br /> <br /> I find that spending less on regular squads, and if you want bodies to be a tar pit, conscripts with some high-leadership choice, they are quite effective.<br /> <br /> Hellhounds do rock.]]></description>

And maybe I might replace one of the Hell Hounds with a squadron of Sentinels.]]></description>

I'm thinking of the former to help with horde/assault but the antitank of the meltagun shot would be kind of handy... then again I already have vets handling anti tank.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Meltaguns (and plasma guns more so) are expensive. Its best to put these useful expensive guns on the same-costing BS4 platforms (like your vets).<br /> <br /> The cheaper special weapons simply multiply your firepower cheapy. For example, one frag greande round will hit about 2-3 troops @ <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(123);'>str</span> 3. Thats worth 4-6 guardsmen firing. Costs 5pts. Ofcourse this evens out to lasguns = grenade frag launchers at closer range (exactly so, if orders are used - so less effecient when that happens) but until then they can fire always @ 24". Plus im sure against medium 4+ T4 save troops Krak grenade rounds do better. ]]></description>
