Krylon Black Primer

I got the Lizardmen Batallion and bought the GW Chaos Black Primer with it. After assembling all of it I started Priming. Being the noob Warhammer player I am I used the whole can before I could finish priming. I decided that since the cans of GW Chaos Black are $15 at my GW I didn't want to spend the $15, so I went to Hobby Lobby and got a can of Krylon Black Primer for $5. After using it to finish up the rest of my models, I noticed that the GW Primer had a more glossy, shiny finish, and the Krylon had a dull chalky look. Is it anything to worry about? Will my models still come out fine using the Krylon Black Primer?

They will be perfectly fine. Infact most people dont even use GW paint. I bet you wont even notice the difference.

Yeah it wont matter... although i got the exact opposite result when i tried krylon... extremely glossy... i however dont use either... i use a rust resistant eavy duty grill/stove/etc spray thing... not sure why it seems to work best for me... mainly on fw models

Krylon Black Primer

The $.96 cans of flat black/white/grey from Wal-Mart are what I've had the best results with. In my experience Krylon is always a bit too glossy and GW spray paint is always too chalky. The Wal-Mart brand is just right.

Re:Krylon Black Primer

I agree 100% with Deadshane1. I use the Krylon black/white/grey primers as well with great affect. The reason the GW had a little shine was it is actually black paint instead of the primer it used to be. When they went to the new cans and "formula" it is my understanding they stopped using a primer and just use a version of chaos black.

Krylon Black Primer

Krylon Primers come in different finishes and variants. There is a Gloss and Flat Finish Cans. There is also the H2O range which is washable if you put it on too thick (although it does take alot of time). There are also the sandable primers (for metals). And there are the Plastic Fusion which is just for plastics (extremely glossy). I've used all of them and they are fine. You've just got to figure out which works best for you. All arround $5 a can.
