I would maybe suggest a light drybrushing of a darkgrey to pick up the highlights on the edges of the black before painting the red on

That color gives a great base coat for any shade of red. I am not an experienced painter, so I am not sure how I would go about making the model have table-top "pop".

I think it looks good overall though, and all you really "need" is some highlights and/or dry-brushing to give the black some dimension and form. Pure black isn't a good colour -- you really want a very dark grey with highlights and pure black in the creases of the armour.
