best mouthwash?

I'll be honest here, lately my breath hasn't been so great, and I would like to fix it.

I do the brush/floss thing, but trying to figure out if there is a particular mouthwash that people like and if it works for them. I have read about some stuff that is wacky and some that is mass-marketed, and still not sure.

Totally not sure what response this will get, but hey, if the shoe fits....

I slice of badly burnt toast will actually help make your teeth whiter. Seriously, it's the carbon.

Since you're asking about mouthwash, I use Act. So many of the 'kills 99.9% of all germs' variety is, as far as I know and practice, going to go a long way to improving your breath, especially used twice a day.

best mouthwash?

Don't sweat it dude, it's a legit question.

Brushing and flossing is important, so you should continue to do so, of course.

As far as mouthwash goes, I've read conflicting things about it as well. However, if you are going to use it, the best bet is to use something that actually kills germs and bacteria, like Listerine or a knock-off of it. Scope and similar products don't actually kill bacteria, they just sort of cover your breath up, so they don't really address the problem.

Also, it's important to eat and drink water. Sometimes people have bad breath in the morning, because they don't eat breakfast. I'm not sure what it is totally, but it's something to do with your stomach being empty, so if you're brushing, flossing, and not eating breakfast and finding you have bad breath in the morning, the not eating could be a problem.

Bad breath comes from three main sources:

1. Actual tooth decay.
2. By-product of bacterial growth.
3. Acid stomach, etc.

Cause 2 is perfectly natural and basically everyone will suffer a bit from the 'dog-breath' effect early in the morning, or in the evening if you haven't brushed for 12 hours.

I've got a bit now, actually.

Of course it isn't helped by eating garlic and curry, etc.

What I am driving towards is that 1 and 3 may indicate actual clinical problems which you should get checked out.

2 is just a social condition and you should be able to keep it under control by eating and brushing your teeth sensibly.
