Video Tutorial: Mold Making and Resin Casting

I've just finished uploading an 8 part video series on the process I use to mold and cast original sculpts. In this series, I am making molds and casts of some Evil Dwarves that were sculpted by Grimstonefire.

Playlist:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFfXT_Cjpuk&feature=PlayList&p=135DE5CCC89CD7B3&index=0

If you have any question just let me know. This series wasn't quite as smooth as some of my others (I dropped the camera once which shut it off, and one of my videos went over 10 minutes, so I badly edited it for time), but I am still proud of it.

Ratings of 5 stars are appreciated. Comments welcome!

Video Tutorial: Mold Making and Resin Casting

Its very informative. However in your next video I would advise editing out the parts where you spend 2-3 min doing nothing important like taking apart your lego structure.

All in all though its pretty cool, just yeah to much time wasting in between information.

Video Tutorial: Mold Making and Resin Casting

Injecting resin the way you show in the video will probably lead to a lot of air bubbles as you will inevitably force air into the mold. Slowly pouring the resin is a much better method. Also once you start pouring don't stop until the resin begins to evacuate the vents. Never pour resin into the air vents, all your doing is trapping air.

Eyeballing the resin ratio is a big no-no always use at least graduated mixing vessels or ideally use a scale.

Video Tutorial: Mold Making and Resin Casting

I agree with signspoint2fail.... It seemed like 70% of the video was repeated stuff as well as taking down and building up structures multiple times... Since you appeared to be making two molds... Do it like you mite see on a cooking show. They have stuff already made but show you what to start with? Other then that it was the best mould/casting video ive seen. I will have to try it myself!

Video Tutorial: Mold Making and Resin Casting

watching it done from start to finish looks easy enough. I had thought about making casts but was nervous because I most tuts say you need a vacuum chamber and a pressure pot. You have given me the courage to try it myself. Thanks
