http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/8.page JForum - http://www.jforum.net GW's newer models usually tend to look really nice, I find the new look for the temple guard to be very dissapointing compared to the older models, especially when you realize that models like the Saurus Warriors and Cold Ones really could have used that work instead, so I'm very happy I managed to find these old ones(same thing with a few banshees I ended up snagging... not that I'm implying any future projects or anything like that...).

I started by coating the entire model with a watered down mix of Bleached Bone and Vallejo brown glaze(over white primer!). After that dried, it was washed again with a light wash of Vallejo brown glaze and amarantha red. The skull helmet was drybrushed with white to make it look bonelike in comparison and to make it contrast from the actual skin colour. The scales were done with regal blue with a very slight touch of Vallejo red carmine, and then drybrushed with a mix of regal blue and skull white. After that, the skin was given a Vallejo black glaze wash.

The armour is primarily tin bitz with drybrushed mithril silver. The rest is plain shining gold. The blood on the sword was made by mixing a little bit of black in with Vallejo carmine red, and the shield was done with a mix of chaos black, Vallejo carmine red, and saddle brown. After that, it was finally washed one more time with Vallejo black glaze.

I wanted to go for a harder, grittier look then the GW scheme showed off, and I think I ended up doing that fairly well. Your thoughts?
