I have no idea what the deal with this is. Why would anyone make a plastic template?! GW does it and so do MANY wargames. What gives? what can you do with plastic that you can't do with cardboard (or even a ruller and a centerpoint)

I'm sorry, it's bugging me is all, my FLGS dosn't have templates in stock, so I logically thought that GW would provide their dimensions for new players...but no, they don't. I guess it's because the templates come with AoBR though. But why take the expense of making plastic ones?

I guess they must want to sell more, that's why the template outlines aren't in the rulebook, nor on the website (I looked everywhere)

The point of said uneducated remark is that since the majority of things they make are in fact plastic, why not just use plastic for their templates?

And as Dragon said, they're sturdier. So you don't have to get a new template if you spill your beer on it or a related problem wont to happen in gaming circles.

Though in 4ed IIRC they had template templates in the very back of the BGB to make your own...

If that didn't happen EVERY TIME I'd have less issue. Or maybe a small template gives +d3 hits and a big one +d6 or something. And scattering...

Life must be really tough when that is all U have to complain about.
Reason they are plastic has already been stated, but I will repeat it so maybe you will understand.
1. more durable
2. being clear makes it easier to see how many models are under it.

If you are really set on having cardboard ones look at pg 265 of the 4th ed rulebook.
