Rapid Fire? ....but it says you MUST charge...!

Sisters of battle squad has a priest HQ selection as part of the squad.

Under the Priest's rules it states that a unit with him MUST charge if able to.

Since you cannot premeasure before firing weapons, what is one to do if they wish to rapidfire with the sisters. Do rapid fire weapons prevent the unit from charging as always? Is Rapid Firing a valid way to avoid the priests rules stating that the unit MUST charge?

Um.

Well, if you Rapid Fire, you cannot charge so... no, the Priest's squad doesn't have to charge.

It seems confusing when you look at it, but it's simple really.

I believe it's in the FAQ, but you can't fire rapid fire weapons if it would prevent the priest's squad from assaulting. The rule basically is that you can't measure unless you are asked to, so I would say that this would actually be permission to measure before you fire.

From the witchhunters FAQ:

"this rule effectively means that units with an attached priest may never fire a rapid fire weapon if they are within charge range of an enemy."

So, again, it pretty much gives you permission to measure.

Rapid Fire? ....but it says you MUST charge...!

Codex overrrules rulebook.
Codex says you must charge if in charge range.
Obviously that means you can't fire anything but Assault/Pistol weapons.

However, if you declare that you shoot, you don't -have- to fire -all- your weapons. So if you have assault/pistol weapons in your squad and find out you'Re withing charge range, you can choose to fire only those. Even if all you have is Rapid Fire/Heavy (but then why would you ad a Priest to such a squad?), you can still choose to fire no weapons at all. Then it doesn't prevent them from charging.
