Interesting INFINITY Interview

With the release of the "Sectorial Army" lists, there's a bit of a change afoot in the land of INFINITY!

Here's an interesting interview (with a very good Spanish to English translation - as far as I can tell!):

http://www.telefonica.net/web2/fusionweb/Relatos/entrevista_ingles.html

Interesting INFINITY Interview

I really want to get into this game, but I am not sure if anyone around me plays??

I so want to do Pan-O, Ariadna and Yu Jing armies, with my current obsession being a Pan-O army based around a cutter!! I think it would be cool to have a couple of cutters in play!?!

anyway, I saw this article too and it seems really cool where they are taking the game. Too many toys, not enough money though...grumble.

Interesting INFINITY Interview

Interesting, I'll read through the article.

I liked the core concepts when I tried the demo rules, and I can deal with the miniature prices.

However the rules on the whole ended up feeling way too jittery. Not sure of the right word to use, but there were way too many interrupts that even for the small number of models, that you couldn't take a single action without 2-4 things happening to that model while it simply moved.

People constantly say use more terrain, but if a model just moved past a window he'd be shot, tried to run through an open area and he'd be shot, etc... I think the idea of overwatch and interrupts is good, but that was to an extreme.

Then add to that all the special actions and options, and more with large text blocks to describe what they do, it just adds up.

That said, that is one of the charms of the game, how detailed it is.

I see they have a second edition rulebook, I'll pick it up and see how it reads and plays. If I like it, I'll special order two small armies from my local store.

Thankfully, there's also a lot of good generic scifi rulessets that the minis can be used for.

Any experienced infinity players want to chime in?

Interesting INFINITY Interview

I'm still learning the game, the miniatures are exceptionally well detailed, literally, down to the soles of the shoes!!!

Painting those minis is going to be a challenge, but if executed well (re: Angel Giraldez) the rewards will be amazing!

On the rules set, its very different to GW, unlike GW, I get the feeling that the Corvus hasn't taken the lame direction "we're a miniatures company first, and the rules come second!".....I get the feeling that the game is designed to be more complex, and strategic in a way that it really involves the player!!

Compared with GW, where I feel, the luck of the dice takes too much away from any real tactics, and situations are more "Hollywood" like, than representative of a real combat situation!!

Having said all of the above, its worth while remembering that Inifinity is still very much in its infancy, where, unlike GW thats been around for donkeys years, and still hasn't quite gotten it right!
