				<description><![CDATA[ Not sure if I remember right on this, but dont 10 man <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(167);'>tac</span> squads get to take Missle Launchers for free like they get flamers? Granted its just 2 missle launchers but thats two more anti-tank shots you wouldn't normally get with this current list.<br /> <br /> Just a thought.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ A 10man sternguard unit with about 6-8 combi-meltas (and 1-2 combi-flamers/h.flamers) in a drop pod with vulkan in support (in terms of twin-linking) allows you to decicate multiple vehicles either via combat-squading on the drop-turn or during subseuqent turns as you wont need more than 3-4 twin-linked BS4 close-range melta shots to finish most tanks. <br /> <br /> Otherwise field a drop-pod multi-melta dred to act as your main-stay anti-tank defence. Krak grenades & powerfists can deal with the weaker threats. ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ They also get free Multi-Meltas, and I am sure it is just an armybuilder typo that they were omitted.<br /> <br /> Have you considered having a second army that complements Vulkan? Such as Imperial Guard or <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(121);'>SoB</span> with flamers all over the place? I also kind of feel like your Sternguard is kind of an 'eggs-in-one-basket' thing at this point level. Not because of the points they themselves take up, but because of them being your actual only real threatening unit. I think you would do much better with a core along these lines:<br /> <br /> Vulkan 190<br /> <br /> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(167);'>Tac</span> Squad (Flamer, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(330);'>MM</span>, Rhino) 205<br /> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(167);'>Tac</span> Squad (Flamer, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(330);'>MM</span>, Rhino) 205<br /> <br /> 3x <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(336);'>HF</span>/<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(330);'>MM</span> Landspeeders 210<br /> <br /> Then, 190 points are left over for something goofier. like a five-man sternguard in a drop pod or razorback, which Vulkan joining them. This is all off the top of my head, but I think you want at least two landspeeders in there, and you are wasting a ton of points on tactical combi weapons and fists.<br /> <br /> Sternguard should have all combi-meltas. Their ammunition and profiles are plenty for dealing with junky horde units, you want to use them more like a scalpel to take apart the meanest unit on the table (with Vulkan along for the ride, you will).<br /> ]]></description>

				<title>1000 point Vulkan template list</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ The concept behind the Vulkan Marine list is to create one that has the units and options needed to create an army that closely matches the background for Salamanders. I do like the idea of shrinking down the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(215);'>SG</span> unit to squeeze in another landspeeder. If I was ever to grow this list I would probably add a Librarian and model the Sternguard to look like Deathwatch Marines. I have librarians to be prevalent in the Salamanders background. The Deathwatch motif for the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(215);'>SG</span> would be a nice tie in with fielding eldar as the allied army. I'm not that keen to take <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(121);'>SoB</span> to benefit from Vulkan's rules but that is just me. If I were to ever field a bigger list I would definitely add a squad of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(305);'>GK</span> in power armour as an allied troop choice.<br /> <br /> G]]></description>

On the flip side, your oponent cannot truly 'focus fire' any unit - their attention has to be elsewhere, as mission objectives will punish them for using their entire army for a single task.<br /> <br /> At 1000 points or less you run into a unique situation where you can actually run a power unit that can survive. Past that, you either double them up, or bring in other 'cannot be ignored' threats into your list to split fire and focus. You can run a single predator, or vindicator along with your rhino and have little issues with it. If your opponent has brought something to the table that can truly focus fire a unit down before it can do anything, they have severely gimped themselves in another regard. Bring flexible units (tactical squads, landspeeders), and you will be rewarded for your efforts. You will especially do well against a 'glass cannon' approach.<br /> <br /> On another note, if you are drop podding a dreadnought in, I really don't think you need to spend those points on ironclad armour. In my mind it seems more built for footslogging across the table. A normal dreadnought with a multi-melta arm and a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(213);'>SB</span> or <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(336);'>HF</span> under the combat weapon drop podded is scary to every unit in the game.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Another point that I think should be mentioned is that at a 1000 points core for a Salamanders army, the 190 spent on Vulkan is a bit much - he does not force multiply many things when he is 1/5 of the points.<br /> <br /> Maybe a basic captain or master of the forge would work a bit better, and you also would not have to constrain yourself to the limit of having to find a transportation method for him (you don't want Vulkan walking, you want him alive and in combat).]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Vulkan would work alot better if your teammate was also playing marines to max out on the melta/flamer love.  You could really do a nifty army that way.<br /> <br /> Otherwise, I think I like Inigo Montoya's list the best, but I wouldn't bother with combi-weapons on sergeants, and I think you would still be able to squeeze a 5 man sternguard unit in there.  For example:<br /> <br /> Vulkan<br /> <br /> 2x 10 Man Marines with melta/multi-melta (or flamer, whatever) in Rhino<br /> <br /> 5 Man sternguard inna pod<br /> <br /> Dread with <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(330);'>MM</span> or Ironclad in pod<br /> <br /> 1 or 2 land speeders.<br /> <br /> I think you could fit that all in, and it gives you alot of tools and makes the most use out of Vulkan's ability.]]></description>
