				<title>What do you do to stay healthy?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I have been watching Super Size Me and it made me think a bit about how people try to keep themselves healthy. <br /> <br /> When I was younger I used to bike everywhere, now I usually drive, even though I walk quite a bit. Where I used to ride my bike to the store for groceries, now I drive and go to the store less. 				<title>What do you do to stay healthy?</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ I try to stay fit and healthy, but I don't do too well. I'm apparently not overweight, but I do have a bit of a... loose belly. I walk the dog for about 45 minutes to an hour most days, and I've started going to the pool twice a week to do some laps. I've never been very sporty, but I only gained weight when I was really lonely and depressed at the start of 2006 (it was the summer holidays and all my friends were busy, so I ate a lot and didn't go outside much), and I'm not as unfit as I was then.<br /> <br /> I eat a lot less than I used to as well, and I don't eat at McDonalds anymore. I have fish and chips once a week, but that's more out of necessity. I go to KFC occasionally when I'm in town on a weekend or in the holidays.<br /> <br /> I used to ride my bike a lot, and that seemed to be a good way to get fit again, but then the bogan kids stole it, smashed it up, and threw it in a ditch, the little bastards, so I dismantled their scooters and put them on the roof of their house.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ 1) Eat lots of potassium - too much food is too high in sodium, and the potassium works to "neutralize" it and flush it out of your body.<br /> 2) Drink more water - I find I have better breath, my skin is brighter, and I feel more awake and energetic throughout the day. I had a friend who drank 1gal/day for a month, and he lost 30lbs, true story.<br /> 3) Work out 3days/week - I started this new lift plan <a href="http://stronglifts.com," target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://stronglifts.com,</a> and I must say, I am extremely pleased with it, both for the amount of time I have to put into it (6hours/week, maybe 7 tops) and the amount of results I get. Plus it's distributed for free! Fat is potential muscle anyway, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(71);'>IMHO</span>.<br /> 4) Always take the stairs - no brainer there<br /> 5) Set some goals - I set a goal of running in ten 5km races over the next five years, and I did two the first month. 5km races are great, plus you usually get a shirt to show off to your friends that you are working out  <img src="/s/i/a/5d13fa41280d6fdef786d41bc175d3f6.gif" border="0"><br /> 6) Break up with significant other - back on the market again, I kinda need to step it up a couple notches from where I was at before. <br /> 7) Ride a bike instead of driving - saves gas and it's a good workout<br /> 8) Controlled fasting - Beyond the simple fact that zero energy intake will force you to burn fat, it's a great way to naturally get your body to purge some free radicals and naturally anti-oxidize. <br /> 9) Stop drinking soda - drink tea instead!<br /> <br /> I also got in the habit of keeping my mouth cleaner by brushing, flossing, and tongue scraping 2x a day to get all the bacteria out of there, and I typically just feel healthier when my mouth is clean.<br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I ate lots of fruit, veggies, and MEAT!!! I generally don't do much during the summer, cause it's so damn miserable outside. But I do workout by doing push ups, sit ups, using the punching bag, and lifting. During the fall I ride my bike all the time, love the wind.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ No more cigarets. I avoid restaurants in general, but never eat any kind of fast-food. I go to the gym at least 5 times a week for 1 - 2 hours, and play basketball...crappily. I also walk to work on the days when the schedule permits. No fizzy softdrinks. 10 Fruit-vegetables a day, lots of protein, sparse carbohydrates in solid form. Naturally.<br /> 9) Stop drinking soda - At least long enough to read this post<br /> <br /> <br /> Eat less rubbish and get an active job, which are often the easiest to get outside of the fast food industry. 				<description><![CDATA[ Drink less soda.  It's amazing how many calories are in a soda.  Cutting soda out completely and drinking just water does wonders for people that are just starting out with trying to eat healthier.<br /> <br /> Top Tip:  Make sure there is plenty of ice in the water.  Cold water is alot easier to drink then warm or even room temperature water, as it gives it a "crisp" taste as opposed to a "nothing" or "mineraly" taste.  (Most people complain about the taste of water.)]]></description>

Cut this out, or restricting it to a couple of cups a day, replacing the other drinks with water. You will be amazed at just how many calories you can cut out with this alone.<br /> <br /> When I worked in an office I noticed I was gaining weight and attributed it to sitting around all day. But I was also drinking 8-10 cups of sweet coffee a day, something I never did before I worked in an office. I decide to try cutting this out and drinking water and occasionally a diet coke instead. My weight dropped back to previous levels within a few months.<br /> <br /> Also I try to go to the gym twice a week at the very least preferably 3 times. I realise that many people see physical exercise as a painful dull chore, but I feel very invigorated after I go and I have really learnt to enjoy it. I even feel agitated if I haven't been for a few days. I have more energy and feel more confident as well. I am not a naturally athletic person either.]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ I tend to have fitness fads, one week I eat junk and general unhealthy quanties of things, next week I get cravings for specific healthy things like a whole lettuce and mongetout and gorge myself on large quanties throughout the week.<br /> <br /> Maybe I'm pregnant? ... ... nah, can't stand coal<br /> <br /> I also walk a lot around my work, choosing to walk to one end of the office to the other rather than picking up the phone.
