new to the [craft]world of eldar, 1000 pnt list

Hey all. Here's the deal. I'm currently a Tau player, but I would like to switch to Eldar. This is partially for game play reasons, partially for fluff reasons, partially for aesthetic reasons, and probably a few other reasons as well. That being said, I don't own any Eldar, and I have never played against Eldar before.

I've put this list together, partially to set myself up for what to begin buying, before expanding past the 1000 pnt range.

Any critique is most welcomed

HQ 120pts
Farseer
- Doom
- Mind War
- Spirit Stones

Elites 176pnts
9 Howling Banshees
- Exarch
- Acrobatic
- War Shout
- Mirrorswords

Troops 542pts
9 Dire Avengers (165pts)
- Exarch
- Defend
- Bladestorm
- Power Weapon + Shimmershield

11 Guardians (185pts)
- Shuriken Cannon
- Wave Serpent
-TL Shuriken Cannons

8 Rangers (192)
-Pathfinders

Heavy Support 160pts
Fire Prism
- Holo-Field
- Shuriken Cannon
_________________________________________
Total: 998pts

Not sure if people do this much, but my plan is to run the Farseer with the banshees. I would use Doom during a turn in which I plan on assault any particular unit.

I would use the fire prism to target heavy infantry or other vehicles. If not that, then I would use it to reduce units with large numbers of models (orks/tyranids) then use the banshees to finish off the unit.

Pathfinders should be great against MEQs, along with added support vs hordes.
They should also serve as decent objective holders, although not if likely to get assaulted.

The dire avengers will be my main objective holders, and the shimmershield should help with that. I would try to use the guardians in the waveserpent to take any last minute objectives, or at least to put objectives in conflict.

Thoughts?

new to the [craft]world of eldar, 1000 pnt list

Well, I'd give the Dire Avengers a transport and take the Guardian Defenders as ground troops (without a transport).
Footslogging Banshees die easily.
I'd prefer two naked Prisms instead of one that is tooled up.

i havent played with eldar in a while, but i like the army from a casual point of view.

HQ 120pts
Farseer
- Doom
- Mind War
- Spirit Stones

aight, you might get some more milage out of fortune or guide in replacing of mind war.

Elites 176pnts
9 Howling Banshees
- Exarch
- Acrobatic
- War Shout
- Mirrorswords

executioner on the exarch is usually better, and gives you some minor AT against light vehicles.

Troops 542pts
9 Dire Avengers (165pts)
- Exarch
- Defend
- Bladestorm
- Power Weapon + Shimmershield

i usually see these stripped down, to the exarch with bladestorm in a transport.

11 Guardians (185pts)
- Shuriken Cannon
- Wave Serpent
-TL Shuriken Cannons

i would give the transport to the DA's.

8 Rangers (192)
-Pathfinders

drop them down a bit to get more points

Heavy Support 160pts
Fire Prism
- Holo-Field
- Shuriken Cannon

2 naked is better then one tooled up i think.
_________________________________________
Total: 998pts

good luck with the pointy ears.
