you "accidentally drop one" on the board just before you roll.
it lands on a 1 so it would be a fail.
but the player claims they didn't roll it properly so it shouldn't count and re-rolls it with the rest of the dice.

I don't think I understand what you're trying to say...

If you're saying "you shouldn't reroll it, no matter what the result" then I agree.
If you're saying "you should reroll it, no matter what the result" then I also agree.

But if you're saying "you shouldn't reroll it if it's a failure, but should reroll it if it's a success" then that seems like you're just trying to either punish someone for dropping a die on the table prior to rolling their saves, or else simply maximize the amount of failed saves your opponent will roll. Either way, I think that's pretty unsportsmanlike.

Same here, you roll em all together, any that pop out before that get rolled again regardless of result. So what happens when they drop one and make a save and say they meant to roll it?

Easiest thing to do is say that any dice put into the hand that leaves hand and rolls on table is a roll...

Although if the rest get rolled before the dropped one stops no one complains.

And if it falls off the table it counts as a fail, stops people throwing the dice too hard and having them fly all over the place.

Personally, if it leaves my hand and lands on the surface where the result is clear, it stands. If i drop a dice from the handfull without rolling it, I immediately ask my opponent, who invariably says reroll.
