				<title>Chaos Marines 1000pts Word Bearers for review</title>
				<description><![CDATA[ Ok, so the idea here is that I have a number of figures already painted, and want to use them along with some units that Ive wanted to paint.  Im not overly thrilled with the chaos codex, as Im sure most of you arent (those who love background and "history" anyways) But here goes:<br /> <br /> Sorcerer: Winds of Chaos, Plasma Pistol. 145pts. (the Pistol is actually on the model and I figured I might need to pop a tank now and then, soo...)<br /> <br /> Chaos Terminators: x4, one w/ Lightning Claw/Heavy Flamer, one with Combi-Bolter/Powerfist, one with Power Weapon/Combi-Bolter, and one with Twin Lightning Claws. 175pt<br /> <br /> Chaos marines: x6, w/ Aspiring Champion w/ Power Weapon, Flamer, Icon of Chaos Glory. 135pts.<br /> Rhino: 35pts.<br /> <br /> Plague Marines: x7, w/ Plague Champion w/ Powerfist, Personal Icon, x2 Plasmaguns. 235pts.<br /> <br /> Lesser Daemons: x5. 65pts.<br /> <br /> Land Raider: 220pts.<br /> <br /> This comes to around 1000pts.  I have been thinking though, about underutilized units in the Chaos list, Dreadnoughts, Chosen and Raptors come to mind. I dont own any Raptors, but do have a Plasma Cannon armed Dreadnought, and enough figures to make Chosen, but I dont really know a decent way to outfit them.  I thought about dropping the Land Raider and including the Dread and (probably only) 5 Chosen with some kind of weapons, 2 Meltas would keep the cost of the squad (plus Dreadnought) around the Land Raiders cost, but is it worth it? Or, is the Land Raider worth it?<br /> Im lost, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(84);'>lol</span><br /> any help would be awesome!<br /> <br /> I think Raptors are the only thing I dont really own for Chaos, though I dont want to run a Daemon Prince, or Oblits, or Noise Marines. 				<description><![CDATA[ I would kick the landraider as at 1k points youll have plenty of heavy weapons capable of damaging/destroying it.<br /> Those 200+ points can be used to beef up the infantry squad numbers and give a rhino to the plague marines, and get a Dakka Predator.<br /> <br /> The only other gripe I would have is the loadout on the termis.<br /> Thats alot of points for 4 models, if your deep striking them then they might not make it into <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(58);'>HTH</span>.<br /> As they already come equiped with power weps, it might be a better idea to drop their loadout to only the Hflamer and combi weps.<br /> This would let you up the squad size to 5 Termis<br /> <br /> But if your set on the land raider then they will likely get to use all these upgrades, provided that it makes its way to their lines.<br /> (in my experience <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LRs</span> are Bigger Fire Magnets than Biker Nobs, and are tough to hide behind terrain because of their size.<br /> <br /> Chosen would be a good way to draw attention and specify where your lesser demons/termis Deep strike. <br /> But they are expensive for a low model count unit that will draw lots of weapons their way, which they are unlikely to survive..<br /> <br /> I would add another <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(22);'>CSM</span> squad with a Mlauncher/auto-cannon with a Rhino, and specify it as an objective holder. <br /> <br /> This way you have 2 solid Troop choices moving up the field to capture or contest objectives, which can bring in Deep strike daemons and termis.<br /> With the Predator and Rhino based <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(22);'>CSM</span> squad providing fire support, and defending your own objective against drop pods or flanking units.<br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Ok - with a word bearer list, you should look to a few more daemons - an possibly a greater daemon.<br /> <br /> If you go a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(42);'>GD</span>, consider the chosen champion (infiltrated close in your <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(42);'>GD</span> doesnt need to do the death march across the board and they are the cheapest Champ to sacrifice (at 28 points, 2s points cheaper than the vanilla marine).  I like to kit them out with 4-5 meltas and infiltrate/outflank.<br /> <br /> I for one dont love termies that much - drop it down into a 3 man termicide squad with combi meltas for deepstriking and taking out a tank or two.<br /> <br /> If you are bringing a plasma cannon Dredy, walk it along side the Land Raider - if it goes crazy it cant hurt the AV14.  <br /> <br /> I thought Shotguns comment on the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LR</span> being easy to pop at 1000 points interesting - Ive found them to be exceptionally sturdy at lower point games.  But I think you sacrifice too many other options and rarely bring <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>Lr</span>'s at less than 1500 (but always have one at 2000+)<br /> <br /> raptors can be cool - but a 3 man bike squad with 2 meltas turbo boosting in close can cause concern and can absorb a lot of fire with good use of cover.<br /> <br /> Anyway, at 1000 points, my view is you will be probably better served by cheaper and more basic units as opposed to fewer elite units.  Vanilla <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(22);'>CSM</span> in Rhinos are great all rounders, and dont need much in the way of upgrades to be effective.<br /> <br /> ]]></description>

No, really I am! <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(84);'>lol</span> Ive gone 2nd in all the tournaments Ive played in.<br /> Anyways, the other night I ran this list against a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> player and got totally wiped out!<br /> It was shameful, amusing for him to be sure, his Master of Ordnance is the best 30pts Ive ever seen used. Lucky bastard, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(84);'>lol</span>.<br /> <br /> Anyways, I need to rethink this for sure.  I didnt run quite the same list as posted above, but here's what I did run:<br /> <br /> Sorcerer: Plasma Pistol, Winds of Chaos.<br /> <br /> Terminators:x 5, 1-Twin Lightning Claws, 1-Lightning Claw/Heavy Flamer, 1-Power Fist/Combi-Bolter, 1-Combi-Flamer/Power Weapon, 1-Chain Fist/Combi-Bolter.<br /> <br /> Chaos Marines: x6, Aspiring Champion w/Power Weapon, Flamer, Icon of Chaos Glory, Rhino.<br /> <br /> Plague Marines: x7, Plague Champion w/Power Fist, x2 Plasmaguns, Personal Icon, Rhino.<br /> <br /> Lesser Daemons: x6<br /> <br /> Predator: Autocannon, Sponson Lascannons. (I know, I know....I dont know what I was thinking haha)<br /> <br /> Anyways, this is what I ran, and subsequentally lost with.  I dont actually have the Land Raider anymore, I do have a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LR</span> Crusader my friend said I could use as a Crusader, but not real sure if I want to do that.  I dont have Raptors or Noise Marines.  I thought about staying away from the cookie cutter Lash Prince with lots of Oblits just because I know this wins.  This is only 1000pts, and seriously, losing to Guardsmen!? 				<description><![CDATA[ Personally, I would only use the Land Raider as a Chaos Landraider (the problem I have with 'concessions' like you have been offered is that even if you win, you feel like you had to be helped to do it!).<br /> <br /> Dont diss the <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span> - they are hard to beat these days!<br /> <br /> I imagine that you faced a mech heavy list, and didnt have enough Tank busting to deal with it.<br /> <br /> I would Drop the termies, and go a squad of chosen with meltas x5.  Infiltrate them into cover (nice and close) and watch him dedicate his entire shooting round into dislodging them.  You may not have any left at the end of this, BUT - it allows you rhinos to race forward 12" and pop smoke grenades.<br /> <br /> At low points, I probably wouldnt go a predator, I find they work better with other tougher options to work as a distraction (ie they can be ignored when a <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(87);'>LR</span> is on the table).  Dont discount the Oblits - I respect the choice to avoid Lash/oblit spam tho!  At these points, I think Oblits are the better choice.<br /> <br /> Finally, @ 1000pts, I wouldnt go any of the cult marines, but rather regular marines with icons (cheaper, so more marines!).  Against <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(69);'>IG</span>, your marines will chew them up in <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>CC</span> - so get them in and get dirty!<br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ It was good to kick the raider. It tends to be eh in small games. I ply a lot of swarms and they like to surround the raider so my guys can't get out. Then it's a slow and painful demise for that hunk. You seem to be short on crowd control and have a lot of single shots. Yea termies are a bit too pricy for smaller games too. ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ Ok, so Im thinking of a different <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span> altogether, and here it is!<br /> <br /> Chaos Lord: Mark of Tzeentch, Terminator Armor, Deathscreamer, and Personal Icon. 165pts. <br /> <br /> Chaos Chosen: x5, x4 Meltaguns. 130pts.<br /> <br /> Chaos Marines: x10, Aspiring Champion w/Power Weapon,  Flamer, Meltagun, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(75);'>IoCG</span>, Rhino. 240pts.<br /> <br /> Chaos Marines: x10, Aspiring Champion w/Power Fist, x 2 Plasmaguns, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(75);'>IoCG</span>, Rhino. 265pts.<br /> <br /> Lesser Daemons: x6. 78pts.<br /> <br /> Vindicator: 125pts.<br /> <br /> Reasons:<br /> The Sorcerer that I had last game didnt do much of anything with the Plasma Pistol and Winds of Chaos, I figure this Lord of Tzeentch with really good combat abilities AND a really cool 24" AP3 shooting attack seems like he'll do more damage. His DEPLOYMENT is the only real question since everything else is either mounted in rhinos, summoned in or infiltrating.<br /> <br /> I got hosed last time by the Demolisher in my friends army, so I thought, "hell, 4 meltaguns infiltrating cant go wrong, right?!" So there's that!<br /> <br /> I dropped the Plague Marines because they do indeed cost a bit, and I figured two 10 man squads in Rhinos might be better.  Is there a point to putting a Heavy Weapon into a Rhino Mounted squad? I see people do it, but I question it because you're moving for the most part so wouldnt 2 assault weapons be better?<br /> <br /> Lesser Daemons for fluff reasons (Word Bearers)<br /> <br /> Vindicator's in there to return the pain of the Demolisher cannon on those who brought it to me, haha.<br /> <br /> If anyone has any comments on this newer list, <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(269);'>Id</span> love to hear them. 				<description><![CDATA[ Pretty nice list. You might wanna take a look at the chaos lord-if you drop a marine, and give another a plasma pistol so you still have two special weapons. 				<description><![CDATA[ Chosen: you may get disappointed with.  If you get first turn and actually manage to infiltrate 12.01”, you move 6” and shoot, but will be out of <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(1);'>2D6</span> range, so that’s not great.  If the opponent goes first, he simply has to move 6” away from them and the Chosen are out of range their first turn.<br /> <br /> So…at 5 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(95);'>MEQ</span>’s they are not hard to kill, esp. if they infiltrate close to enemy small arms that have no other target.<br /> Why no Icon on them on the off chance they LIVE to summon <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(82);'>LD</span>’s.<br /> What’s their plan in Dawn of War, I highly suggest a Rhino for them and 2-3 models and a fifth special weapon.<br /> <br /> <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(22);'>CSM</span>: I would never suggest mixing special weapons on them.<br /> Lesser daemons…8 is the minimu to get any bonuses from them…and I highly suggest the 8  man squad.<br /> Vindi: meh, they work best in pairs and with a bit more armor saturation.<br /> <br /> So Sorc Lord is walking or dsing, both are sort of a waste <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(72);'>IMO</span>.<br /> ]]></description>

				<description><![CDATA[ @Sanctjud---So, Im not opposed to making the Chosen an 8 man squad with x5 Meltaguns in a Rhino, or adding another 2 Lesser Daemons. Im even cool with dropping the Vindicator to get the points for those aforementioned additions, but wouldnt I be missing something (the vindicator) that adds a big punch?  I really do like the idea of the Chaos Lord doing well in shooting and <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>CC</span>, so <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(269);'>Id</span> like to keep him, can you make any suggestions to make him more effective in his current state? 				<description><![CDATA[ Hi everyone!<br /> I was hoping there would be some Vet. Chaos players on here that could help me square up a decent list for 1000pts.  The only real stipulation <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(269);'>Id</span> like to have  is that 1 <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span> be a Chaos Lord in Terminator Armor, Mark of Tzeentch, Daemon Weapon and anything else really(I have a model that Ill be building to represent him, and the shooting/<span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(19);'>CC</span> daemon weapon sounds too awesome!).  The only units I dont own are Noise Marines, and Ill be fighting Imperial Guard in Cities of Death. The very first list I posted up above got totally hosed, and maybe it's just because Ive played Orks for the last two and a half years. <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(269);'>Id</span> like to stay away from basing an army around the Lash of Submission, as awesome as it is, unless I put it on the afore-listed Sorcerer and he was the 2nd <span class="glossaryitem" onmouseover='gp(56);'>HQ</span> in the army, after the Lord.<br /> <br /> Help me knock these slaves to the False Emperor into the next life!<br /> <br /> Thanks!<br /> T-]]></description>
