Are these to be used in a game? Cos bases like those afford a hell of a lot of LOS issues!

I have a question though; you undercoated them white, but did you paint them white again with normal paint? Yep when i was making them i said LOS be damned! If i can't play with my toys what is the point. lol

Basecoat White as normal,
then wash them with GW black wash let dry
Wash again only in the creases with the Black wash. I usually do this until the black is solid.
Of course let dry.
Then start painting with thin layers of white not quite a wash not quite a paint. I usually add privateer press paint medium to the white as well. add thin layers after each one dries.
But the trick is not to paint in the cracks where the darkest black it.
Also you don't have to use black you can try any other color as a wash you want depending on what you want the undertone of your figure to be, you could use blue or even brown. Heck you can use purple if you want. it really depends on what the rest of your paint job is going to be like.
Patience is the Key, white takes forever to paint and it feels like you are constantly touching it up.
