orcs and choppa rules

in the 7th ed orc and goblin army book the wording about the "choppa" rule is alot more open than in the 6th where is clearly only orcs with hand weapon and sheild on the charge get the +1 strength in round 1 of comat.
is my interpretation of the newer wording correct in that:
a) you always gain +1 strength in 1st round of combat regardless of who charges
b) even if you have an additional choppa you still gain the +1 strength

please reply with your thoughts, all comments appreciated

To my knowledge, every first round of combat you get +1 Strength from a Choppa. If you get in combat for two turns, then again for another, you'd have it the first and third combat turn (the "third" being the first of a new combat) while the second would leave you at base strength.

orcs and choppa rules

Yeah, I am not 100% sure of the reading but I believe it is something like 'a choppa grants an additional +1S in the first round of combat' If that is the case then having two, you could argue that you get a +2S. But since no one gets two choppas it is a mute point. Oh, also, the rule in the basic rule book says that you get an extra attack for having and extra hand weapon. A choppa is technically not a hand weapon so if you had two you would not get an extra attack....

whitestagg wrote:I was just making a point about specific wording. You never buy an additional choppa, only an additional hand weapon.

Er, yes you can (in the American O&G Army Book, at least). Black Orcs "Armed to da teef" are stated to use two Choppas, and Orc boyz get the option to buy an additional choppa in their unit entry, instead of an additional hand weapon.

They don't stack, to my knowledge, for the same reason that Snikch's weapons do not stack (be it this 'dexes where he'd get +3S and do 3D3 wounds, or next 'dex where he does 3D3 wounds with an additional -3 to the enemies save). You get the bonus attack, nothing more.
