So I'm turning back to my neglected SOBs that I played when I was much younger. When I first played them, I had no idea how to paint anything (this was pre-widespread internet, after all). So relatively recently, I purchased a canoness as a test figure but got sidetracked by bugs. To make a long story short, here are my questions.

I was thinking about creating a small army of SOBs/Grey Knights, and I wanted a fairly unified color scheme that was also highly challenging. I was thinking chrome armor, very light grey trim and white textiles. How would you suggest creating the illusion of mirror-like finishes on armor at such a small scale? NMM? Laquer?

I haven't really seen an army list similar to this that was effective enough to be fun (but again, I haven't played much recently). Could someone point me to a decent FOC list?

Canoness Rory, stJohn, and a few others have posted/been involved in the posting of some of the more effective SoB lists out there. Deadshane is your man for GK stuff

The colour scheme you are suggesting would be at the very top end of 'highly-challenging'. Chrome will always have to be done as NMM, and this will be very hard to contrast with the light colours you are going to use for the trim and textiles.

As you can see from the Canoness; SoB are very detailed and i'm not sure it would be feasible to paint the armour in chrome (esp. the chest area).

This scheme would be easier on the GK's where the armour is more chunky, but i still think you would have to go with a darker colour for the trim etc.. for it to contrast properly.

Having said all this, i notice that there are no pics of your Tyranids up (hint, hint). And no, I do not really have the skills yet for such a challenging task, but what I do have is patience...we'll see. I may just go with one of the codex orders.

Don't feel like you have to stick to the codex schemes for your army. Half of the fun i get out of the hobby is in painting my mini's in my own style. Why not paint your GK's as standard, then give the SoB's silver armour with some other colours thrown onto the textiles?

Silver compliments almost every other colour out there (except orange and purple), this would let you paint whatever the hell you liked but stiull have a nicely unified army

I don't know who painted it, but if you type "Sisters of Battle" into Google images, you'll find a picture of a group of Sisters with blue armor and yellow textiles around a Blue/Yellow Immolater.
