Da Boyz

So it's no secret that in an Ork Army there are tons of Boyz that need to be painted. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on cranking them out in a somewhat quick fashion while they still look okay. Right now all I have are AoBR boyz but will have more soon.

I prime black and just paint the suspenders different colors to ID the units. However For the skin I have heard a base of knarloc and a wash of thraka looks great.

Theres a handy Speed Painting article to check out
Or you can look at the Tabletop quality article

Both handy guides but the basics are like, using washes to get decent shading, drybrushing weapons metal after a black undercoat gives a decent looking metal effect.

I seem to remember an article or thread where he very quickly churned out minis just by using washes over the top of a single coat. Undercoat white (Yes white on orks ) then apply your colour followed by a wash to shade and darken

Just got to find your own style really

~Toxic

I find the most important part of painting orks to make them look decent is the skin. My favorite technique, which I think looks good, is simply base coating the skin brown, graveyard earth works well but there is a foundation brown which does the job, and washing over with thrakka green till it gets dark green.
Additionally, not enough can be said for washes when it comes to speed painting. A nice white base coat can be turned into any number of different colors with them.

For speedy painting, I'd go for a white undercoat. Makes every other color pop real nice when washed. Needs the wash though, or else it'll look very flat.

For Ork skin, I try to use as many different shades of green I can (except scorpion green for obvious reasons) , and then give them a thraka green wash. But then, my ork army is a ragtag band of brigands, sprouted and grown on many different sorts of planets (volcanic, temperate, desert, etc.), which has given each tribe its own unique shade of green.
