No, not at all. It's just that most people use the Avatars to identify posters. So when I See an Ork with an Acordian, I know is Orkestra, when I see a Raptor with a Gun, I know it's Orkosaurus, when I see Sean Connery, I know it's the Yakmeister.

That answer both omits a very important part of what rage does and includes something that rage doesn't do. To the OP, just look in the Universal Special Rules section of the main rulebook.
