[WIP, PICS] D.Eldar Warriors --> D.Elf Black Guard

I've always liked the Black Guard figures. Now that I'm expanding my Dark Elf army, and have discovered that Black Guard are one of the best units in the list, I like them even more. However, I don't like their price, or the fact that they are metal.

I've had these Dark Eldar Warriors sitting around on the sprues ever since the 3rd edition boxed set was released. Finally, when brainstorming on where I could find well-armored spiky elves that would be easy to convert, it occurred to me that I had the perfect base figures.

They are basically just D.Eldar Warriors + D.Elf Spearmen arms + various spiky bits + greenstuff cloaks. Definitely not perfect, but they're good enough. I held one up to another Dark Elf player at the local GW and said "If I put this on the table in my Dark Elf army, what do you think it would be?"

He stared at it for a while...
"Ummmmm, a Black Guard?"

Works for me.

This 2nd pic gives a better view of the "halberds" as well as showing how they'll rank up. Two ranks of 7, with the 4 "attacking" figures and the command group in front.

There's no telling when I'll update this with the other 7 figures (including the command group). I haven't GS'ed their cloaks yet, because I HATE sculpting. This unit has been sitting on my desk half-finished for probably over 2 months because of it. Still, I thought I'd share. Maybe it will inspire a more motivated converter to knock together a dirt-cheap unit of Black Guard for their own Druchii army...

Those are nice. Really nice. The only slight change I'd do is make the spears a little more halberd-ey.

Very nice models, just need a tad more colour so they aren't so black unless that is the intent. As for what I think they are I don't know as I don't do fantasy, doesn't detract from the quality of them though
