When to buy paint set?

Hello, I'm thinking about picking up that citadel paint set, problem is it is apparently limited.

I haven't painted anything for a while...6 years so this set would be a good start for me again. I am about to go into my uni exams which will all be done by December so I cant really put aside any time for painting this month.

So I could either buy the set now to start painting in December and risk the paints going dry.
or
Hope I'm able to still buy the set in December.

appreciate any advice..

Well if the Paints get all Chunky and stuff, what i heard you do is ad a drop of Fresh Water to it and mix it with the bottom of your brush....

Then again it doesn't say it's only a limted release.

EDIT: It actually is a limted Release.

When to buy paint set?

If you're that worried about it being a limited release, I'd just buy it now, especially if the 'paints going dry' is a concern of yours. Paints shouldnt go dry within a month of you opening the bottle, unless you forgot to close said bottle...

(Been playing 40k for a year now, and did LOTR:SBG a year before that, and my paints from then hasnt dried out yet. And are nowhere near it)

When to buy paint set?

The paints won't go dry in a month or even six months.

If you leave the pots sitting around the pigment separates out of the solvent, which might have the chance to evaporate a tiny bit because it floats on top.

Proper stirring gets everything back together. If you do find your paints getting a bit thick, you can add a bit of clean water with Flo-aid, or even some acrylic polymer medium.

Keep them in a cool dark place. It works, I found one of the old screw top Blood Reds and it's as if it was brand new

By the way, when did they switch over anyway?

When to buy paint set?

I'd be more looking at you have no painted in 6 mos. Do you enjoy painting, paint in spurts, will you need all the colors from the paint set?

These are things I'd usually focus on for any purchase really. I buy what I need for paints when I start the unit/ army. IE I have a plan, and try to stick with it. We all fall in painting funks, and for that you need a pick me up.

Maybe go in 50/50 with a friend on the massive paint set. Set up a painting night, and agree to meet 1x per week for a mos, then see where you at. If you do it, and do a unit/squad at a time. You'll probably have a painted army in 2 mos.

When to buy paint set?

Unless you have a specific colour scheme in mind, most colours will come in useful.

Greys sound boring but they are surprisingly PITA to mix up every time you want to use one. Same if you want a variety of greens or browns.

Pink doesn't often get used and can be easily mixed.

The new set (that comes in the case with the brushes etc.) is supposed to be a very good deal. If you use Citadel paints, it might be worthwhile.
