Black Legion Hellblade help needed. WIP

I painted my hellblade up in black legion colors. I am a little unsure of the brass. Do you guys think I should add a highlight to the front tips of the wings and the plates in front of the cockpit? If so what color? It currently has brazen brass over tin bits. Secondly I made a boo boo, assembling the clear plastic into the cockpit and gluing the cockpit on before I sealed the entire model. I'm thinking I should tape the windows off, anyone run into this?

Here is the base. I still need to paint the edging. I'm toying with the idea of leaving the upright as it is. I think it blends into the base better but what do you guys think?

Here's a pic of the base with MSpainted edging (I'm going to do brown though) and upright (that would be black).

Comments, suggestions, criticism, snide remarks?

Thanks!

Thalor

I think in terms on the base you should leave the upright part as is. looks perfectly fine like that.

Can't really help much with your cockpit issue.

The Hellblade itself looks really well done. It's a very clean paint job.

I'm working on a Pavehawk model (on and off, but that's an aside ) and when I sprayed parts of it I just used painting tape to cover parts I didn't want to go over with the spray. There are other tape alternatives, I hope someone can shed some more light on this. I chose painting tape as it was readily available and didn't take off paint when I removed it.

Rico...

That looks good but the edges of the black panels could do with something, maybe a dark grey highlight or some paint chips/weathering. The gold is very nice, clean metallic look without being garish.

As for your cockpit dilemma, have you considered liquid mask? I will admit I have never used it but the ability to 'paint' it onto the area required might make it less fiddly than tape for awkward spaces. I have seen Humbrol and Tamiya branded versions from most model suppliers, so it shouldn't be hard to find.

I plan on picking some up before I paint my Valkyrie but unfortunately that won't be anytime soon.

Looks nice.
For the stick on the base I would paint it solid black and then gloss varnish for 3 reasons.
1...The gloss reflects alot of light and disguises the shape of the rod.
2...I don't use gloss on my models so the gloss looks alien and more of a 'playing aid' as such.
3...Also if it has been so obviously treated there should never be any doubt as to whether or not it is finished.
At least that is what I do with mine!

Edit: And I would paint the rim of the base solid brown as you have said.

I decided to hightlight up the brass a little more, especially at the tips of the wings and the panels in front of the cockpit. I decided to keep the base as it is, at least for the time being. I ended up taping the windows and sprayed it. Had a little scare though as the sealant was getting a little low and started throwing tiny droplets instead of a spray. I figured what was done was done and just coated it a little heavy and the droplets joined each other so luckily it came out smooth. I used testors clear coat, I used krylon on my last tank and it crackled the paintjob, not a terrible thing for chaos though so I'm not too disappointed. Here's the pics.

And the oft ignored engine shot:

Thalor

You should be able to get away with some masking tape on the windows, that's what a lot of aircraft modellers do. The model looks great!
