Here is the base. I still need to paint the edging. I'm toying with the idea of leaving the upright as it is. I think it blends into the base better but what do you guys think?

Can't really help much with your cockpit issue.

The Hellblade itself looks really well done. There are other tape alternatives, I hope someone can shed some more light on this. I chose painting tape as it was readily available and didn't take off paint when I removed it.

As for your cockpit dilemma, have you considered liquid mask? I will admit I have never used it but the ability to 'paint' it onto the area required might make it less fiddly than tape for awkward spaces. I have seen Humbrol and Tamiya branded versions from most model suppliers, so it shouldn't be hard to find.

1...The gloss reflects alot of light and disguises the shape of the rod.
2...I don't use gloss on my models so the gloss looks alien and more of a 'playing aid' as such.
3...Also if it has been so obviously treated there should never be any doubt as to whether or not it is finished.
At least that is what I do with mine!
