The Land Speeders should go MM/HF imo, most versatile unit in the whole SM Dex (YMMV)
Cut that Lascannon off that Cybot, if he drops in a MM is better. If he lands within 12" you get the pen bonus, if not you're still AP1, making it not that much worse than a lascannon. I'd even say never pick Lascannons for vanilla SM with no matter what unit
For the left points you could go for a Predator with AC and sponson HBs, a cheap AI firebase. Or put in another Speeder.
You also might want some Antitransport firepower, which is covered best by a double AC Dread or Typhoon Speeders imo.
To get more points I'd recommend dropping a Sternguard or two (they're suicidal anyways) and some assault marines, since they profit from running in small units reverting to cover.

I don’t like the scouts either, but I think the 3 Troop Squads is decent enough for 1500.
Plasma squads are cool, but I would suggest razorbacks for them.
Adds a bit of vehicle saturation, and allows some mobility should you need it.

Chaplain + Assault marines are meh. Not great, not poor. Average.

Speeders are meh, maybe spread them out a bit.
Dread: slap a hvy flamer on there.
Stern are meh a bit of a luxury at 1500…and they don’t look like they can be easily supported if not on a short leash.

The problem about using transports is that it takes away a turn of shooting for my plasma cannons becuase they are heavy.
Keep the Chaplain and Assault Marines. They are worth it, despite the internet backwash.

Rhinos will not prevent you from using your Plasma Cannons at all. Rhino's have two firing points -- if they sit still, the Plasma Cannon can fire from the top (plus another weapon) just fine.

I use what I call the Plasma Wagon loadout-

Tactical x 10, Plasma Cannon, Plasmagun, Plasma Pistol, Rhino + EA

I'll usually have two of these. They can sit still by an objective and lob Cannon shots, roll 6" and unload Plasmagun and Plasma Pistol fire, and the Storm Bolter for kicks, or roll 12" and pop smoke/hide. The only time I disembark is when I have good targets for the Boltguns in the squad.

I've also done this with this squad as a tank hunter:

Tactical x 10, Lascannon, Meltagun, Combi-Melta, Powerfist, Rhino + EA

Sit and shoot, or run up on an armored target. If you can manage to get within 6" with a 6" move, fire the Melta/Combi-Melta without disembarking. If you need that whole 12" move, do it, then hop out and fire.

Just remember, ALL troops are safer and more resilient inside an armored transport. Even if it is AV11/11/10, it's something that the enemy has to open up before it gets to the troops. Creative and smart use of disembarking moves can make all the difference in a game.

Yea, i agree, how about two squads of tacticals, 10 men, in rhinos, and a 6 man Combat squad in a Razorback? or is the razorback just not worth it? I think i will drop the scouts, take transports and drop pods. I use the pods for the sternguard to drop behind enemy lines and decimate what ever they shoot at, with land speeders to come down and assault marines to support as well. But for long range anti tank/MC, devs or a tank ?

people seem to really be hating on the devs right now, because of their high price tag and generally low body count. Preds are a decent price and dakka preds put out a lot of anti infantry fire while being dirt cheap. Pop on a double las turret for anti tank (though its cheaper for razorbacks).

Couple of things; Loose the melta bombs on the assault marine sgt, he doesn't need them with a fist. (you probably dont need them on the chaplain or scout sgt either tbh).
Cut the assault squad down to 7 man with a fist and flamer, 171 points that should (with the chaplain) finish the assault on the opponents turn against something generic like a tac squad.
Add a tech marine, 50 points gets your scouts a 2+ cover save if they have camo cloaks (Bolster defences).
Loose the las cannon on the dread, its been said a MM is best if dropping down.

All of that should net around 88 points left after upgrades which is just enough for a dakka pred that the tech marine can hide behind and repair if need be.

Re:1500, 2nd SM list, advice please !

My review: *probably goin to come off as harsh, I'm just trying to explain myself*

It's immobile. A tad bit unfocused on what it wants, and not 5E. Your a footslogging force, that sets you up for a hard games against good lists. Hell, lists that are mechanized! I would give it a 3/10, almost tempted to go lower. (5 being decent, 9 being perfectly balanced 1 being utter failure, 10 means perfect and no list is perfect in warhamms)

My main reason is it just has a lot of weak elements that don't support eachother. Immobile plasma squads? Drop podding sternguard? Are they suppose to sacrifice themselves? The assault marines just charge BLAARGH! Then arrive probably after the sternguard and it's DP have given your opponent 2 KP's? Your speeders are alright but squadron status hurts them majorly. The scouts... What are they supposed to really be good at? All snipers? That's not that strong. Outflanking? And do what then? Run around aimlessly trying to find something they can stand up to?

What I think you should do with your army:

You seem to want plasma. Well, that's not the way to go. Try this:

Tactical Marine Squad - 165
5x; Razorback w/ Lascannon & TLPlasma Gun

Shaves 20 points and get's you mobile (which right now you aren't so your army isn't good at all *not trying to be mean, but it's the truth*)

Scouts should be above loadout. Scouts should be used with Telion or a cheap alternative to tacs and be taken bare 75 points w/ snipers. That way they don't just fold to strong units.

Why do you have a drop-podding dread with a lascannon? If your trying to get close take the superior anti-tank gun! The MM! Is this being used as an empty pod to contest?

The lanspeeders should be in different squads and I would run them as MM/HF. This way they can kill troops and tanks well. I'd take 2.

Drop Melta Bombs on Assault Marines and grab 2x flamers.

If you want the dread to stay i'd run 2x with TLAC for long range fire support.

Also, do you want a drop pod force or a mixed? Mixed is fine, but you seriously need support. The sternguard should always have full combi-melta loadouts. Don't "change around" your list depending on your opponent. That's tailoring and makes your a weaker player TBH.

If you want that sternguard squad DPing I would grab a libby in them and drop the Assault Marines for another drop-podding squad. Split the numbers.

Good luck.

1500, 2nd SM list, advice please !

Haha, yes, no offense takin this is what i was hoping for, my list consists of models that have been sitting around for years.. I got back from the store, got 2 rhinos for my tac squads, actual drop pods (so I don't have to use vertically standing tanks) and a combat squad to fill in my tac. I think what I am going to run is a mix. the sternguard are the 2nd thing to go in, as the dread is the first, and i will put a MM on it. the Dread can usually stand up to most things, and it distracts, and the DP has a locator beacon for my nxt drop pot, my marines, and my land speeders. however, I am debating where to drop the pods in general, having only one so my deep striking units do not scatter, and instead of a dreadnaught having more landspeeders fitted with MMs.. and the only reason i have melta bombs on my PF sarge is against AV 14 like land raiders.. as i am usually faced with alot..
